    Anyway, as gambo so eloquently mentioned, many familial / financial obligations are tied to these types of events. I saw it growing up, time and again. Sad.

    That was a mistake. Should have had them sign something that said any number of guests over 20 was on them but you’d bake the cake. Wine, ice, together and in an ice bag and Vicodin for the wife. “Worse than labor?” Shudder. Hang in there.
