It those kinds of gathering that are the worst spreaders. I know a guy who had recently left a company that had a gathering. 45 people he knows got the disease and a few died. Gatherings are just not worth the risk!

My wife and I were married 12.5 years ago & it was a large wedding. So, I don't see anything wrong with having a lot of guests. I can tell you that if we were getting married in the midst of a pandemic, our guest list would be about 6--or we'd postpone. It's unbelievable to me how many people are still having large gatherings.
There's a family that my family is very close friends with. They had 27 people for Thanksgiving---flew/drove in from all over the country. Now 9 of the have Covid. The infected age range is anywhere from 12 to 81. These are good people....smart people, but not in this instance.

You don't need 300 people at your wedding, it's just a big fucking circle-jerk. Cousin Eddie invited us to all his 6 kids' weddings so we gotta invite all 7 of them to all 5 of our kids' weddings...and we gotta keep track of the gifts and how much was spent so we can match it...it's all a big exercise in cultural vanity and self-indulgence.
And while I've got my pissypants on, the general self-indulgence in this country is out of fucking control...nobody cares about your kids, your fucking pets, your backaches (everyone over 30 pretends on the internet that being over 30 gives you back pain, which is an insult to those with real problems), your weepy little non-clinical "depression", your always being tired even though you sleep 8 hours a night, your fucking freedumbs, or any of your other got-damn complaints.
