I saw another Irish band, the Coronas (more pop than grunge for sure) and their manager told me about Fangclub. Happy to see them mentioned here, reminds me to look their music up.
I saw the Coronas open for Stereophonics in Belfast. They're alright I guess. In Ireland they attract quite a young crowd, and generate a lot of radio plays for themselves. Harmless radio pop. Fangclub released their 2nd record last year, I think it's good, but haven't listened too extensively.

this is a video of one of my faves, The Tea Party, playing one of my faves, Walk With Me, back in 1994 on the Much Music Video Awards. I will never forget a moment with this band; they played a free show in our arena during the Red River Ex (travelling circus/fair). the arena was full, and it fucking SHOOK when they played this.
Hugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall after a very restful summer exploring the Great Canadian Wilderness and beaches, listening to Pearl Jam, Headstones, Watchmen, Queens of the Stone Age, and many others.

i may have mentioned this band previously, but if not.....from the canadian band thread:
Crown Lands is an incredible band. I went to see Jack White on the Boarding House Reach tour. Showed up for the opener. Canadian band I'd never heard of. The floor was packed. I was like "this is for the opener?". HOLY FUCKING SHIT. they are a two piece; lead singer is also the drummer and his voice, honestly, for most of the show I couldn't tell if he was man or woman. it sounds like robert plant. WHILE HE'S DRUMMING.
the entire crowd went nuts for this band. you'd think they were the headliner. it was insane. they've got a couple EP's and one full length out. highly recommended.

Amber Webber from a band named Black Mountain. one of my favourite canadian bands. Black Sabbath meets Jefferson Airplane. she and one of the other guys left BM to focus on this previous-side project full time.
