So what now for the Democrats?

After tonight, this isn't really a two-party system, anymore. It's more like a 1.5-party system. What are the Democrats to do? I really have no answer. Now, it's clear that Trumpism isn't just about white people.
But really, Trumpism has a wide reach; maybe to the majority. And I don't want the dems replicating it at all. Are the Dems going to need to go harder on immigration? Push for a national religion? Push for death sentences for anyone that has an abortion?
Really, the only thing I can think of is go hard left and hope for the best. Get the Bernie supporters. But that doesn't seem big enough.
I think the Democratic Party is done, at least on a national level. Donald Trump has had the four years he has had. And America came out and said "thank you sire, may I have another?"

If Biden loses? I don't know. Maybe drop out of society. Why not? I've been fighting for the environment and justice and peace for too long. For what? What a life."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Well it’s not over yet. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. But here’s a thought: spend the next four years building new candidates so you’re not stuck running a relic from the past. Let’s face it, Biden is someone that the party (including Obama himself) didn’t feel should run in 2016 because Hillary was better. If he wasn’t good then ,how is he good now? Because Trump is horrible? That’s obviously not enough.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. But for some of us personally, it's a good question, too. Yeah, I'm 46, have had quite a few good experiences. Maybe it's time to just enjoy what I can (hopefully PJ concerts some day) but I'm exhausted. I'm not going to be driving people in the middle of the night for abortions or spending my time picketing. I'll do some donating (provided I stay employed).1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

69 and done. To much stress for a worn out body.

the issue for democrats is that the GOP has now become an interracial party. The voting blocks of the past are changing, and one side is becoming a vacuum due to lots of talk and no action. Heads turned the last few years and it'll be interesting as always to see how it changes going forward. People are pro USA, not anti-USA.I'm like an opening band for your mom.0

You said "People are pro USA, not anti-USA". Maybe you should clarify. All people? Some people? Certain people? What people?

So ultimately, the second party, if there is one, has to move way right. Next time the question isn't whether we should have the ACA, it's whether we should have public schools. Should we have child labor laws (you really can't if you don't have public schools). Maybe the Dems (or whatever comes as the #2 party) will argue not to imprison people like Kaepernick, as the GOP gets more and more full of itself and starts rounding up anyone a bit different.
Maybe the Dems try to fight for things like gay rights

Too early for this. This discussion may need to happen but not tonight. At least not until somebody hits 270.___________________________________________

Now, you can kind of see it happening but it doesn't matter because the disinformation is too persuasive. If the issue is that we've moved the definition of "socialism" further right, the problem is that capitalism's "invisible hand" doesn't really account for the environment; it kind of assumes infinite resources and certainly makes no demands on people looking out for their fellow humans (even, say, wearing masks).1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

The senate almost doesn’t matter as the court is set. If Dems lose they need to consider reconciliation with trump and try to work together. Trump is a cult hero in rural America . Putting him down constantly only feeds the evil democrat mentality in that part of the country.Post edited by Lerxst1992 on0
