I'm already at the point of acceptance.  He's either going to get re-elected or he's going to be installed by SCOTUS and Barr.

I looked into leaving the country four years ago and at my age and with my relative lack of special skills, it ain't happening.  So I'm going to prepare my answer to the door-to-door Trump Loyalty tests...I'm only being kind of hyperbolic.

Generally speaking, I'm just going to live my life and try to do some little things like give to causes, etc. I feel pretty helpless and powerless. I'm lucky to be upper-middle-class (the Trump Dynasty makes that potentially shaky but not in the immediate).  I haven't really decided how I'm going to spend money or time in response.  I need to take care of myself, which includes working a lot, working out, and relaxing. But I'll try to expand my reach a bit, be it on local issues or whatever.

I'm also probably going to stop saying anything in social media. If I'm going to die in prison* for being disloyal to the First Family, I'm going to have it mean something; not just because I'm snarky.

*Right now that's hyperbole. I'm not convinced it always will be.
I think trump has a decent chance of winning, but the media and many of us believe SCOTUS has absolute power here. It’s just not that simple. Bush v Gore has had a lasting impression, but 2020 is extremely different, as Dems control the House and many swing state governor mansions. Gore had none of that support and that is why he conceded when SCOTUS ruled in 2000. This year is very different.

The House actually has more constitutional power deciding Presidential elections than SCOTUS. Trump thinks that helps him because more states are republican (that’s how the House votes) and Trump has 26 votes the way the house is right now, the minimum votes needed to win.

But the House powers are more vast. The House also counts electoral votes. Say it comes down to one state, PA. If SCOTUS gives a Republican list of electors to be counted while the state governor gives a democratic list (the law says state governors and secretaries certify election results). Pelosi would have competing lists of electors and controls the process. She can literally kick Pence out of the process if she wants. She could throw out that states electoral votes. Then the House votes. 26 republican votes, trump wins.

Not so fast. If any PA house races are close, the House decides if that congressman gets to sit or whether there is a formal review which could take a long time. Those 26 votes are now 25, and if the House stays deadlocked for 2 weeks, Pelosi could become President, or leverage that power to have a split ticket win.

This power has already been ruled as constitutional  by SCOTUS.

I really do not see my day to day changing much regardless of who is elected...I know it will impact some over others to varying extents, but I really don’t see much changing for me due to which president holds office in the foreseeable future.
I’m not going to move out of the country or anything haste like that, lol
    Good for you.
Isn't there a lot more of hate and fear, lies and trouble in your county lately? A lack of dignity in the White House? I heard of a lot of bad things happening since you got a new president. I can't imagine that wouldn't affect you.

Well, maybe you could not just see it from your own perspective, but try to look at it through the eyes of a collective ... I'm sure the majority of Americans (especially poor and unemployed people, without health care, etc) have another Answer.

This is a social problem. Lack of solidarity.
If I may add to your list of poor and unemployed people without health care - 'women's reproductive rights and accessible and affordable birth control, prenatal and post natal care'.

Unfortunately, all this shit isnt going anywhere no matter who wins.  Maybe the Democrats can hold power long enough to put some protections in place for separation of power, election protection reform, etc.... but overall we are pretty fuct I think.

All these snowflake pussies need to play the victim card.  They are kind of disjointed when their people are in power and all they can do is cry about the "media".  They are going to be huge victims under a Biden administration.  Now they have been gifted the superpower of just making shit up and mainstreaming conspiracy theories.

We are seeing the beginning of it, but we have a very major threat of domestic terrorism from right wing wackos who are armed to the teeth.

I think this an an underappreciated element of what's going on. I think acting like the victim is a part of Trump's appeal.  All these people, whether it was the election of a black president, the advancement of gay marriage and LGBTQ rights, people actually speaking out about the way blacks are treated by cops, the changing demographics, secularization, or whatever...they feel like the place at the top is being threatened and they feel under "attack."  They talk of how "tough" Trump is, but he's constantly whining about how mean everyone is to him.  As pitiful as that is, I think it's more of a feature than a bug because people like to think they're the underdog and are being oppressed. They've been accusing the left of it for years.  I don't necessarily think this is a right-wing-only issue, but right now, that's who's leadership is harnessing it so well.  Trump's a soft crybaby and it feeds his followers' feelings that the world is against them.

I think removal needs to be a 2/3 vote.

If Trump wins, I don't see the party moving one inch away. All votes will be on party lines.

There's no chance 20 seats are flipped.

yeah, I hadn't done the math. was just kind of thinking about it in my head. but it's also possible some republicans actually grow a spine. but doubtful.

Yes but 4 more years can do so much more damage. First off he will be even more emboldened to do whatever the fuck he wants.  We will continue to have no national response to COVID-19 which can and will have long term world-wide economic effects not to mention what it will just do here. Our allies will be weaker because he won't protect them nor will they have any respect for us. Russia will be emboldened.  And we will continue to completely ignore science and any information on the environment.  I stand by my comment. The world is doomed if he gets re-elected.

Yes, 4 more years will be more trouble then what we've seen so far.

And, this Idiot has said the USA is leaving the WHO by July of next year, so if he is re-elected,  we may NEVER get back to Normal as the Virus will continue.

Like you said pjhawks: World could be doomed.

I think we will just see 4 more years of corruption, lying, boo hoos, no Covid help (who cares once he can’t be re-elected, right?) and lots and lots of golf. I will have to stay off social media, which is probably healthier...ten minutes on twitter/fb will make your head explode. 2020 has been the year of misinformation, even Google is changing their algos to combat it (and protect themselves). Really just want the chaos to be over.

maybe the US, but not the world.

and even if he wins, and if the senate is flipped, he'll be hogtied and basically won't be able to do much. i know what you're saying, but there's too many variable to just declare the world ending just because of one event.
