Think I need to pick up that 2015 Sub Pop box set.
A couples are $100 US on Discogs.  The shipping costs from the US are absolutely crazy now. Bet it’s $50 to ship it. Sigh.

I picked that up in 2017 and it cost me $79.55 shipping to Australia.
I got 20% off the box set, but the whole thing still came to $151 in total. That’s still cheaper than I could get it locally though

Fair point. I’m not sure I could find this locally if I tried. I have not met many Mark Lanegan fans in these parts.
Been in basically every record store in Southern Alberta and have never seen it.
Just tell me it’s worth it and I’ll bite the bullet 😂

The only reason to get the box, over all the albums individually, is for a 12" litho of Mark sat in a car and for the box itself.

To be honest I think I would spin the LPs more if I didn't have to open the box each time. When it came out the later three albums were not yet reissued so I bought it on release.

It all depends what you’re looking for, I guess. If you don’t have any of them on vinyl then 5 great albums for $100 is a pretty good deal.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the Manna Mariam track 'Wishing Well' that Mark sings on? It's on her Soundcloud page but I can't find anywhere else to buy it online

It's great, isn't it? I just wish I could find it somewhere to buy it.
I've got a playlist of 150+ non-album Lanegan songs (b-sides, guest appearances etc) and this is the only one I can't find to download anywhere.

Recently I've been listening to a lot more of Mark's collaborations than to his actual albums, so I thought I'd post a few of them here.
I'll start with 2 of my favourites, that couldn't be further apart from each other...

UNKLE - Looking For The Rain

    Mark Lanegan - Sneakers

Love these. The Soulsavers records that Mark is on are amazing.
The Alison Mossheart track was on my list of ones to post as well, I really like the contrast of voices when Mark is with female singers.

  • Big fan of that Duke Spirit collaboration. We could throw side projects at each other all week. Here are two recent ones, Not Waving with Dark Mark and Black Phoebe, which is Mark and his wife Shelley Brien. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw7kv4nUmQA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhA8LmvWLuw

Yeah, that's the beauty of it, there's just so much to choose from.
I keep meaning to get that Black Phoebe album on Bandcamp, thanks for reminding me!

It is worth your time. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer.

I am sure you already know about it, but this will make for a more enjoyable holiday season:

Two of my very favorite concerts within the last 15 years, were the Gutter Twins and the Twilight Singers. Great collaboration between Lanegan and Mr. Dulli.

We really need a new Gutter Twins record. That would start 2021 on a high!.
I was lucky enough to see The Gutter Twins a couple of times in London. I also saw a couple of the "An Evening With Dulli and Lanegan" acoustic shows with Dave Rosser on guitar. I met Greg and Mark after the Union Chapel show - Mark was really friendly for such an intimidating guy!

Did you get a chance to see any of the shows with Isobel Campbell? I only got to see them once, but there's a great show on YouTube that I've watched a ton of times

Edit, I've found the link for it

I also saw them in London during their 2011 tour, exactly four days before that Saint-Malo gig. What a memorable night!...

New Gutter Twins would be fantastic. Similar to you, I've been fortunate to meet both of them after various shows and I've asked both of them at different times about Gutter Twins news. They have both said something to the effect that the band is always in existence, they just need their schedules to sink up to allow them to record another proper album.

Mark Lanegan is the only musician that I can think of who takes the time to meet all fans after each of his shows. Will sign anything you want and take a photo and isn't charging any money for it. He is second to none.

Do you live in the UK? You are lucky that Lanegan is always hitting the road in Europe. When Lanegan does tour in America, he only hits 10 to 12 specific cities on each tour. I am fortunate that one of those cities is Boston. It is a shame his audience in America isn't as large.

Thanks for posting the Campbell show. I did get to see them back in 2010. It was a very good show. Always enjoyed the contrast between their voices.
