My favorite is "the virus will go away after the election" or "if it wasn't for the media" .....as if the media is driving the horrible lack of response to this pandemic.
Sometimes people in my smaller Indiana town forget that there is life outside of their peachy small town FAR RIGHT god n' guns bubble.
My wife's friend is a tRumpster and just had her grandma die from COVID after it swept through her nursing home. Gma was 106 but was supposedly still very aware and feeling good. Friend called my wife about 3 weeks ago and said she was going to be visiting from FL. She said she was going to visit her Gma in OH at the nursing home because the nurse had told her they "were relaxing their visitation standards." About a week later the Dayton news stations reported that there was an outbreak at the nursing home. About a week after that Gma died.

W absolutely thrived on it...at a time when it was needed. But he was able to turn it into at one point 90% popularity, not that long after winning a razor-thin election that some thought may have been won shakily. 9/11, was obviously the biggest opportunity; it was an attack on our country and was ripe for the "coming together" that we had. But still, he didn't really have to do much to get people behind him. And then? He was able to exploit it as an excuse to go to a war that likely would have otherwise not been so popular.cincybearcat said:

Trump? Covid was a perfect time to bring people together. He'd be over 50% right now. He's such a moron / loose cannon that he'd never reach W-level popularity (and Covid is not quite the opportunity 9/11 was), but he still had an opportunity to come across as a leader and someone that wants us to put our differences aside and come together. But he thrives on domestic enemies. Ironically, all he really cares about is winning in November. If he'd handled Covid better, it would be over.
