Played Mickelson National today. Lefty’s brand new course (opened in June) just west of Calgary. Letting the public play for a while before it becomes fully private. Wide fairways with tough bunkers and really tricky greens. The hope is that the Canadian Open will be played here in the future (which would be awesome).

Here is a pic of 17, tough par 3.  Crazy Green. Rockies in the distance.

That's a beautiful looking course. What's the distance on that hole? It looks lengthy at first but then when I blow the picture up it looks really short....
It has to mature... but they have done a great job moulding the prairie land with a bunch of soil excavated for a man-made lake in a nearby residential development called Harmony. It’s a par 3. I think I hit a 9-iron or wedge so it was 165 slightly downhill. The par 3s were not long on the course, but there is plenty of trouble if you don’t hit the dance floor lol.

How about Brendon Todd....this dude has been near the top of the leaderboard at just about every tournament lately.  2 years ago he was outside of the top 2,000 in world rankings and about to retire.  Got himself together, won twice in the fall and now back in the top 50.  Awesome story.

Wouldn’t want it week in and week out but I enjoy seeing a course like this with no fans. Seeing it like we would see it

Talking shit in the post round interview too. Said “he’s only won one time” or something like that. Big league golf tomorrow

Yeah, that is what I was talking about.  Basically blew up the media's best friends narrative...

For the record, I think I am pulling for DJ to close it out, especially after the Brooks trash talk

He doesn’t have a good 54 hole lead track record in majors. I like DJ but not overly confident he’ll pull it off. Champ can’t be overlooked.

Nope, but when he's good he is as good as anyone on the planet.  My rooting interests are something along the lines of DJ>Brooks>Morikawa (can't see it with that putter)...then probably Berger/Fleetwood/Finau then way down the line is Day. Basically anyone but Bryson and Rose.

Ummmm...the other thing I learned this week was that the US Am is being played and televised and it is being played at Bandon this week.  Holy f'ing hell.  How is this not bigger?

Wow. Had no idea. Bandon tops my list for golf trip destinations. On par with pebble for a much more reasonable price.

Honestly I enjoy the Players Championship more than the PGA.  They should trade places.  Players replaces the PGA.

Definitely. And they have that sheep ranch now too. I’m not good enough for the strategy of it anymore though. But the Am is one of the best things of the year, similar to this love seeing the empty courses at times. Bandon at that which I have never seen.
    lets go

Haha yes...I assume at least. At the shore house and had a few beers in the pool today. Lol.

This course is as visually pretty as almost any course in the country. Top 10 or 15 for sure
