    That wasn't what the story focused on but I would tend to agree with that.  Why not grow your own?

    So basically there is so much red tape to go through to sell and the people that pay the fees and applications and do the right thing, are growing and selling.  Only problem is that to make their initial and continued investment, the cost of weed is high.

    Why buy it for x when you can purchase for Y or just DIY and cut out everyone all together.

    At the end of the day either the big companies will still be standing or the experiment that has been happening w legal weed will go to hell because of the blackmarket growing and buying.

    Hmmm, I don't know that the black market is doing much here in WA. Our shop prices aren't bad (in line or cheaper than I was buying from "a guy") but I have convenience, selection, labeling, and a product that must meet standards. There are lots of reasons why I have no desire to grow my own (including the illegality factor), many of those reasons are the same reasons I buy potatoes and broccoli from the grocery store rather than growing my own.

    Same in LA, Jeff. And, like you, growing our own isn’t an option for several reasons.

    Plus I’ve discovered some fantastic dispensaries who absorb taxes on their already-reasonable prices, and the selection and quality are on par with my own standards.

    I know when this first started people were making a lot of money.
    Maybe it’s based on county or general area? I’ve heard it can be scarcer up north. Here, there is a plethora of strains by many reputable and well-known growers.

    They coming along real well, happy with the growth. Yeah I find it very gratifying as well.. this is my 5th year of growing my own and I found my niche last year with my food and nutrients and it's now paying off. I'm growing 2 AK47, 2 Blue Dream and 1 Blue Cheese
