Really you don’t believe that there’s an out of control virus killing hundreds every day? Damn
Did you know that tuberculosis is a pandemic every year? 1.5 million dead/year.

Scroll down and read a little from the CDC.
    Nobody wore masks until covid19.
Now out of respect I wear a mask at the grocery store, hardware store whatever getting a haircut.  Or in a place where there's a condensed group of people.
But Dr. Anthony Fauci said this back in March.

There is a happy medium between overhyping and downplaying this stuff.
    We have a tuberculosis vaccine
    And effective treatments.
Ohh.  And there has been no reason to politicize the yearly TB pandemic.  So even with effective treatments and a vaccine,
X amount die from TB regardless.

So how about getting info @ CDC for Covid19?
    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html
    Cases/day  (July rising)
    Deaths/day (July slowing)
Younger less vulnerable population getting infection on a large scale is what most epidemiologists look forward to = herd immunity.  Which usually occurs befour vaccines are achieved.

Excess deaths is an interesting piece of the pie.

Ok i will try two enlighten the enlightened about excess covid deaths.
There are quite a few articles about this, but I'm not going to waste my time searching and pasting.
*So the total corona virus death toll in the US is updated and posted on the CDC website for all to see daily. State-by-state county by county.
As the CDC combs through all of te covid19 deaths, they are finding that a sizeable percentage of covid19 blamed deaths are actually caused by other things like accidents, or  entirely unrelated health issues,
For example a 40 year old man is on his roof  cleaning the gutters out.  Stumbles and falls off his roof to the ground and dies on impact.
The man died from neck injuries, but also was found to be positive for Coronavirus in his system, didnt even know he had it. A-Symptomatic they are and have been adding deaths like that to the coronavirus death toll.  Drunk driving crashes car rolls 3 times dead driver.  Tests possitive for Coronavirus add to coronavirus death toll.  And a whole host of other health problems that cause fatalities.
I saw one estimate, nearly 30 percent of Corona virus deaths are due to other unfortunate events.  Overtime CDC will revise their numbers.
Having said all that, I don't pretend that it isn't a problem,
I believe that the coronavirus is nothing to sneeze at.
Provide a reputable source for this roof falling and car accident that was attributed to covid. Also provide a source for the 30% overstated deaths by the CDC.
I listen to a lot of news talk radio stations. National and local radio programs.
The (30% overstated estimate) I heard about was at the top or bottom of the hour news cast a few weeks ago.  I heard that on Newstalk 1130 WISN  Milwaukee.
Falling off of roof, and car accident were examples given. The cdc didn't say that.  But those types of things is what the excess deaths @ the cdc take into account.
And if that's not good enough for you fuck it.
So talk radio is your source of information.  That's not very compelling.  Talk radio has been lying to people for 30 years.  I recommend you start getting information from primary sources.

As an unenlightened one who has actually completed death certificates, I can confirm that this is not correct. That is not the definition of “excess deaths”, and that is not what the CDC is doing.

When a death certificate is completed one needs to put down a primary cause of death, other comorbid medical issues that contribute to the death, and other medical issues active at the time of death, whether or not they are judged to have contributed. This is so that adequate epidemiological data can be gathered. It can be difficult to determine what is the primary cause of death and what are just other active factors but medical staff are used to doing this. Data gathering for a new and evolving health issue is a challenge so there will, of course, be some refining of numbers over time. That’s been pointed out repeatedly.

Have fun listening to talk radio, though!

@RYME Do you even understand how excess deaths work? You seem not to at all. Excess deaths proves how bad this virus is not the other way around. Bad testing/false positives or negatives can not hide from these numbers.

    https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2767980

    Results
There were approximately 781 000 total deaths in the United States from March 1 to May 30, 2020, representing 122 300 (95% prediction interval, 116 800-127 000) more deaths than would typically be expected at that time of year. There were 95 235 reported deaths officially attributed to COVID-19 from March 1 to May 30, 2020. The number of excess all-cause deaths was 28% higher than the official tally of COVID-19–reported deaths during that period. In several states, these deaths occurred before increases in the availability of COVID-19 diagnostic tests and were not counted in official COVID-19 death records. There was substantial variability between states in the difference between official COVID-19 deaths and the estimated burden of excess deaths.

Conclusions and Relevance  Excess deaths provide an estimate of the full COVID-19 burden and indicate that official tallies likely undercount deaths due to the virus. The mortality burden and the completeness of the tallies vary markedly between states.

If it wasn’t for tuberculosis, Doc Holiday would still be alive.

I'm an American and if wearing a mask is cool, consider me Miles Davis.

Also talk radio has been lying to people for way more then 30 years, more like since its inception.
    Except for Howard, still relevant.

Reporter On Catholic Church Getting Over $1 Billion In Coronavirus Aid

"...today we are learning, courtesy of The Associated Press, that the U.S. Roman Catholic Church managed to secure billions of dollars in loans from that rescue package through the Paycheck Protection Program. Reporter Michael Rezendes has been reporting on the Catholic Church for a long time. He is one of the reporters who has been crunching these numbers and trying to track where that money is going."

"... we were able to identify between $1.4 billion and as much as $3.5 billion."

The arguments made against this are so fucking dumb.
And "lefties would love another shut down" is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have read in a while.  Nobody wants a shut down.  Everyone (should) wants to see the most well calculated course of action taken to save lives, slow the spread, and keep things going

Politicizing a pandemic is one of the worst things this idiot in Chief has done.  If he would have done what was responsible it would not be the case and our fight against it would be a unification thing instead of a division thing.

If the trumpers had just worn masks there wouldn’t be another shutdown looming.

And the economy may have been in much better shape by November.  The irony of it all, and Trump's short term thinking.

Fauci also said they downplayed masks to prevent a shortage for health care workers.

If surgeons wear masks top prevent themselves from spreading germs,  doesn't common sense tell you they reduce risk?
Not only common sense, but also evidence. Didn’t someone just say “follow the science” (or something close to that).
After the fact, Fauci said they downplayed masks to preserve them. At the time of the original guidance, I remember distinctly hearing him and Birx both saying they had little to no effect. I also remember distinctly thinking to mysefl -- WTF are you talking about?! Of course we should be wearing masks!! If Fauci and Birx had said, "masks are important but please don't hoard the masks right now," we could be in a different place right now. Maybe.
I just have to say, I'm not generally in love with Dr. Fauci the way everyone else is on this thing. He's been a little better lately about being honest and direct, but I think he waited a little too long to break with the Trump train, in my view. I still don't know why he doesn't even quit that shit show WH position so he is more able to speak freely.

You're right across the board except your faith that Americans today would have acted wisely and ensured healthcare workers had what they need.  Just look at the toilet paper fiasco.
