Canada has now given enough COVID-19 vaccine doses to cover 1 per cent of the population

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/canada-has-now-given-enough-covid-19-vaccine-doses-to-cover-1-per-cent-of-the-population-1.5264794

The one-per-cent milestone was achieved 29 days after the first vaccinations were administered in Canada.

At that pace, it would take 5,800 days to give every Canadians two doses of vaccine, meaning the final shots would be given in 2036.

That's true, but it just started.  I imagine vaccine production will continue to scale up, we'll get larger quantities, and they'll get better at scaling up distribution?

We seem to be teeter tottering between struggling with supply and then distribution, then supply again.   I imagine this will keep improving.  That being said, to vaccinate everyone by September.   That's 9 months away.   You'd need to do about 4 million people a month?

Well, if they do jab us all by September in time for floor with DMB, won't it be time for boosters? Moderna provides immunization for a year, how long does Pfizer?

I need to look into it. I would imagine by 2037 other countries will start letting Americans back into their countries. Or not.

Well if the cruise industry can figure it out,  perhaps music gig workers need a collective voice?

The Janssen vaccine is in phase 3 trials now and they are testing a single dose version, which if successful would be a massive benefit. Phase 3 data may come as early as late January.

3 Million a week from Shoppers alone. That is where we are headed I am hoping ones they iron out all of the distribution problems.

Pretty much on par with the states that have a similar population as Sweden.

It does not matter how many doses shoppers can administer if there is a shortage of vaccine.

Study of covid in schools in the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority shows low rates and very little evidence of transmission in the schools, which is great news. 90% of cases did not result in any school-based transmission, and the majority were contracted in other settings than the school.

Long-awaited data from Vancouver Coastal Health authorities shows that transmission of COVID-19 among children at school remains low.

According to the data from the health authority released Thursday, COVID-19 transmission in children between the ages of five to 17 has accounted for just six per cent of the health region's positive cases, despite representing 10 per cent of region's population.

Numbers gathered between Sept. 10 and Dec. 18 show approximately 700 of the region's 100,000 students or staff have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

It also shows that 90 per cent of those cases have not resulted in any school-based transmission, and that a vast majority of them were contracted either at home, or in social settings outside of schools.

    Low numbers across B.C.

In late December, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the data showed school-aged children represented about 12 per cent of B.C.'s COVID-19 caseload at that time.

Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 18, there were 526 exposure events in B.C. schools, the vast majority of which were in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions.

About three-quarters of COVID-19 cases in schools during that period had been in students, while the rest were in staff.
