The WEEKS

The WEEKS is one of my favorite bands out there.  They hail from Jackson, Mississippi and now reside in Nashville.

They have signed on with Kings of Leon's record label.

I have brought them up in conversation before but never had a thread about them.

They have been working on some new songs but here are some from albums past, starting from oldest to newest.

Enjoy!

Comeback Cadillac and Dear Bo Jackson are both great albums! I really got into these guys a few years back, but haven't heard anything by them since those two albums. I could be wrong, but I think I first heard about them on here.  Possibly from @eeriepadave ???

Hmmm.  I always thought I was the first to mention them?

Comeback Cadillac is a song that I beg them to play whenever they are in town.  They all tell me "keep askin, we'll eventually play it, lol.

Check out the album Easy, their latest one.  I love it.  Start it Up is on it and Grind Yr Teeth was an outtake from it.

They are doing an album release in the summer which I am excited about.

This is one of the bands that I have multiple setlists from.  The first few shows they never had them and then they did.

Big fan, seen them here in Philly about a dozen times or so, only missed one or two shows here. They always put on a great show and their albums just keep getting better. Excited for their new one and the tour to follow.

They always hit Philly after NY!  I was tempted to follow them down but it was a work week every time.

Are you coming up to see them?  They are bypassing Philly and only doing a 3 city album release Chitown, NYC and LA.

No, I'm not going to make NY. I considered it, but I don't have any resources in that area to stay with or anything. I'll have to wait for them to swing a full tour.

FWIW Babys allright fits about 100-150 in the room so its intimate.  I saw Peter, Bjorn and John in that place and Peter jumped in the crowd and was in the middle of the room, all I had to do was lean a little and I could have grabbed him.

Take the train up, I'll buy you a beer.

@tempo_n_groove did you make it to the listening party/show last night? How'd the new stuff sound? I'm going to the L.A. one next weekend. Haven't seen them in over 5 years...really looking forward to it!

New album has some good cuts on it.  Looking forward to it.

Bluesy and metal songs.  Comin Down live was great.  Girls like you was another new one that was great live.  They joked about writing this song a few years ago but didn't do anything w it and was worried because Maroon 5 had a song w the same title.  They also mentioned that Dear Bo Jackson had the Mosquito on the cover and the Yeah yeah yeah's came out with their album Mosquito that same year.

I have an old Weeks shirt that I wear only to their shows and the band recognizes it and me in it, lol.  They are always really friendly with me and my GF.  Damien sat down with us during the listening party and talked about the album and what he has fun playing on it and it showed when they were on stage.

The new shirt for the occasion.  Love the color on this.

I have a bunch of setlists from them and have been really fortunate in getting them signed too.  This one, handwritten on a paper plate,  Cyle joked about it being the "super rare paper plate edition", lol.

Brother in the Night and Grind yr Teeth are my favorites to hear live from them.  The show was great as usual.

People need to check these guys out if you haven't yet.

Pre-order the new album here https://crookedletter.net/

@tempo_n_groove Great show last night...appears to have been about the same set as NY, just slightly different order. Agree with you that "Brother in the Night" is so good live! Definitely looking forward to the album drop. I thought I saw Serge from Kasabian there, but I could be mistaken...did a lot of day drinking before the show haha

@timdwilli did they leave off Slave 2 the South for your show too?  That's another one that I love.

These guys are very approachable. Damian gave me his personal phone number a few years back and said to call him to hang out if I was ever in Mississippi. I flew to Austin for my birthday to see them and they all hung out at bar with me and my friends. They are playing Boston and Burlington this fall and I will be at both shows. I’m also tempted to pay the 2500 bucks (it’s in their shop to purchase) to play an acoustic set in my house.

I believe they played it last. Glad they just added an LA show to the full tour!

I'd chip in for that concert.  I'm in NY so the drive will only be a few hours and more than worth it.

Another note about the band.  They were doing 2 nights here in NYC and they knew a few of us were doing both nights so they changed up the setlist.  How do I know this?  Cyle was mentioning this to a few of us and wanted a different show for us.

    That is pretty friggin cool.

These guys are VERY approachable.  They do enjoy talking and hanging with fans.  It's why they are one of my favorites.

@tempo_n_groove what's your take on Two Moons? I think it's their best top to bottom album yet. Can't wait to see them again next month and hear more of these live!

I've listened twice including to the new vinyl, I really like it. I don't think it's better than Easy, which I really love, probably my favorite of theirs.
Looks like they're touring with a keys/2nd guitar player again which is nice, I'll be seeing them on Friday in Philly. I've always preferred their live sound with 2 guitars.

Excited for this, although a bit confused. A lot of these are older songs (Bobbie, Slips, Quicksand, Shame). It's almost like a B-sides album, which I'm fine with. I guess what confuses me is why Alive Right Now isn't on this as well. I think I prefer that to This Dance.

I think they should have Grind Yr Teeth on a physical release too.

Bobbie was a song they came up with and played live but never got to recording.  I heard most of Easy before it was a record too as they played a bunch of them before the recordings.  I like that though.  Remember how excited you got when PJ played a new song and couldn't wait to get the album?

I think they will follow up with another album too.  I know they were collecting funds to do an album and I hope this wasn't what they meant.

Were you watching the live streams on Fridays?
