they go thru one of those giant tins of milo ever fortnight with milk!!! i dont know how they drink so much of it!
and water in their school bottles - or sugar free cordial if they ask, but mostly they like just the plain water
the only weakness is a can of softdrink with t if the cubes have been on special that week at the supermarket - and i have to fess up that one of my all time addictions is creaming soda ... ive gave up smoking, but im damned if i can give that stuff up - so i try not to have it in the house very much. When it is i'll even wake up in the middle of the night and go out and have a swig - i just cant resist it...
Bad.......that was the bit where they were talking about how much food has changed over the years and how so many of the foods we were taught to believe were healthy when we were growing up, ARE NOT any more....Special K was one of them....it's full of sugar.
FUCK! What did they recommend for breakfast then?
I'm okay with lunch and dinner....usually a healthy soup or salad sandwich (wholemeal) for lunch and lean meat and veges/salad for dinner. We eat brown rice and brown pasta and not much crap anymore. But breakfast is HARD!

I don't think they recommended anything?? Just pointed out some bad things.
Where does your "healthy soup" come from?? That was another big point they made on the show....that even some of the things we buy, that we think should be healthy because the main ingredients seem healthy....quite often are not healthy, because so much salt is added.....then to mask the salty taste they then have to add a tonne of sugar

I really wish I saw the first half now.
you cant beat a banana for breakfast - its the fruitworlds superhero
or ill have grain bread toasted with an avacado mushed up on top
or if im being draged around sydney hungover and feeling sorry for myself ill have macdonalds - yah

Yeah I always struggle with brekky. Usually fruit salad,2 bananas and coffee but Im hungry 30 mins later. So between then and 1st lunch i munch on carrots Good slow release carbs!!!
Occasionally I throw in the odd Bacon egg roll. As my take away lady calls it..."one bacon egga rolla. foura dolla fifty"
Ive lost 2 kgs over the last few eeks during detox. First time my weigh has fluctuated more than a kg either way in 5 years. Fuck I gotta get some beer into me seriously
Crazy city. Choppers everywhere and the popage is arriving about 300 metres form my orrifice in a coupla hours. Just about to do my final distance check the assume sniper position

Brother was telling me the other week about the point you make re salt. Nasty!!!!
Yeah it's fucked!! I don't know how these companies, businesses, restaurants etc can get away with it?!
It really makes me glad that we live in a town where take away foods etc etc aren't available to us and we aren't faced with the temptation of the convenience.
Anything we eat has to be purchased and prepared by me, so I have a fair idea of whats going into our mouths.
Glenn living away, however, is a whole other problem  :(
yea - the golden rule try to go as unprocessed as possible - we use sea salt, raw suga, i do have skim milk but its a brant that has a calcium boost (contour) but i use full cream for the kids - but the less it has been changed between its begining and your table the better it will be for you.
and you really have to watch those 'low fat' '98% fat free' etc lables - you need to read and compare the nutritional lables - i usually concentrate on the kj count, the saturated fat and the sodium. it can get a bit technical if you start factoring in the carbs and so on - (how does it go ... - we need carbs, its just some get turned to sugar and if you dont expel enough energy to burn the sugar off it will be converted to fat)
and compare between each brand too - once you get a good one, just stick too it.

Saturated fat is a huge problem....which I'd say we all knew.
As far as finding a good brand and sticking to it....fair enough...BUT...still keep an eye on the nutritional label......they change.....like the Special K example given last night.

The soups I eat for lunch are these packet soups mum is supposed to eat on her "Betty Baxter" diet (shakes for breaky, soup for lunch, normal dinner). They've got a comprehensive nutritional content table on the back which is good and they are DELICIOUS!!! Pumpkin, chicken or tomato. I'm a big soup fan which helps. I bring in cauliflour, capsicums and carrots and cook them in the microwave and add them to the soup (otherwise I'm still hungry afterwards).
Wholegrain toast, a coupla coffees and a coupla ciggies for me
I try not to eat too much bread now (especially if I have 2 pieces at lunch). Does anyone know of a REALLY good cereal which is healthy for you with no high salt, sugar etc? Maybe Weight Watchers or something like that would be good. You'd think they would have factored in those things.
I've heard Cheerios are good....4 different wholegrains...but they just aren't tasty enough for me to want to eat them every morning. DAMMIT!!! I'm all fucking confused now -- good on ya Jamie Oliver. Tell us what not to eat but don't tell us what to eat!
Missed this earlier ....not Peppi Grove.....the highschool I like is Murdoch College. It's at the Murdoch Uni......it's got some fantastic facilities and a great reputation.

Cool.....so you know exactly what's in the soup. I asked, because if you were buying it ready made from some takeawy joint.....that's where you have to be careful of that salt/sugar thing I mentioned.

Yep, definitely know what's in it. I saw that Muffin Break have 97% fat free pumpkin soup and I thought to myself "I wonder her healthy that soup REALLY is??"

I think it just comes down to reading all the labels when buying cerials etc. Which is a right royal pain in the arse....most of us are in a hurry when food shopping.
During the week, my kids only have 3 choices for breakky....Weet Bix, Cheerios or wholegrain toast. Weekends there's usually a packet of crap cerial that comes out as a treat but surprisingly they sometimes still go for the Cheerios or Weet Bix.
I think they skimmed over the right food suggestions last night because they were under a time limit and wanted to point out the more important things that people were unaware of. It was more a case of letting us know what to avoid etc and what our modern diets etc are doing to us. Scare factor played a big part in that show. For too long we've been told this and that are bad.....we're an obese world etc. It's like the Quit smoking ads....we become blazze to it all.....but for them to actually SHOW what fatty, salty, fibre-lacking diets does to out bodies was pretty in-your-face and
I'd say he was aiming to scare us into making more of an effort to research what we're putting in our mouths....be more aware.
WOW. Listening to Binaural which I havent listened to in probably (not like) 4-5 years. I cannot get over how slow the tracks are.
No wonder I only listen to live stuff from the lads.
I refuse to eat white bread.
Been living on salad, fruit and rice the last 2 weeks. Now chewing doen some grilled barra with cous cous. I forgot how good normal food is!!!!!!! Beer tonight!!!
Rob - naughty. Eat breakfast.
There are people on the Defence Force building roof. DonJon thinks snipers for sure....or at least a lookout point. Will have to take them out first before main target

Ohhhh, so you feed them Cheerios. Maybe I should just start eating them again.
I looove Vita Brits but can't eat them without sugar unfortunately. :(
Yeah I do. Cheerios are nowhere near as healthy as Weet Bix, but compared to most of the other cerials, they're pretty good and a cerial that my kids all like......so it's just one to give a bit of variety.
As far as Weet Bix or Vita Brits needing sugar.....sliced fruit and/or yoghurt is a good alternative.
Do you like Oats (like porridge)? that's a good healthy breaky and you can then add fruit or whatever for taste.

I use Celtic Sea Salt and refuse to use any 'commercial' brands. Its actually grey in colour coz all the minerals are still in it.
