yea - the golden rule try to go as unprocessed as possible - we use sea salt, raw suga, i do have skim milk but its a brant that has a calcium boost (contour) but i use full cream for the kids - but the less it has been changed between its begining and your table the better it will be for you.
and you really have to watch those 'low fat' '98% fat free' etc lables - you need to read and compare the nutritional lables - i usually concentrate on the kj count, the saturated fat and the sodium. it can get a bit technical if you start factoring in the carbs and so on - (how does it go ...- we need carbs, its just some get turned to sugar and if you dont expel enough energy to burn the sugar off it will be converted to fat)
and compare between each brand too - once you get a good one, just stick too it.impatience is a gift ........0 -

As far as finding a good brand and sticking to it....fair enough...BUT...still keep an eye on the nutritional label......they change.....like the Special K example given last night.0 -

Where does your "healthy soup" come from?? That was another big point they made on the show....that even some of the things we buy, that we think should be healthy because the main ingredients seem healthy....quite often are not healthy, because so much salt is added.....then to mask the salty taste they then have to add a tonne of sugar :mad:
The soups I eat for lunch are these packet soups mum is supposed to eat on her "Betty Baxter" diet (shakes for breaky, soup for lunch, normal dinner). They've got a comprehensive nutritional content table on the back which is good and they are DELICIOUS!!! Pumpkin, chicken or tomato. I'm a big soup fan which helps. I try not to eat too much bread now (especially if I have 2 pieces at lunch). Does anyone know of a REALLY good cereal which is healthy for you with no high salt, sugar etc? Maybe Weight Watchers or something like that would be good. You'd think they would have factored in those things.
I've heard Cheerios are good....4 different wholegrains...but they just aren't tasty enough for me to want to eat them every morning. DAMMIT!!! Yep, definitely know what's in it.I saw that Muffin Break have 97% fat free pumpkin soup and I thought to myself "I wonder her healthy that soup REALLY is??"

During the week, my kids only have 3 choices for breakky....Weet Bix, Cheerios or wholegrain toast. Weekends there's usually a packet of crap cerial that comes out as a treatbut surprisingly they sometimes still go for the Cheerios or Weet Bix.
I think they skimmed over the right food suggestions last night because they were under a time limit and wanted to point out the more important things that people were unaware of. It was more a case of letting us know what to avoid etc and what our modern diets etc are doing to us. Scare factor played a big part in that show. For too long we've been told this and that are bad.....we're an obese world etc. It's like the Quit smoking ads....we become blazze to it all.....but for them to actually SHOW what fatty, salty, fibre-lacking diets does to out bodies was pretty in-your-face and :eek:
I'd say he was aiming to scare us into making more of an effort to research what we're putting in our mouths....be more aware.0 -

WOW. Listening to Binaural which I havent listened to in probably (not like) 4-5 years. I cannot get over how slow the tracks are.

As far as Weet Bix or Vita Brits needing sugar.....sliced fruit and/or yoghurt is a good alternative.
Do you like Oats (like porridge)? that's a good healthy breaky and you can then add fruit or whatever for taste.0 -
