that's exciting.  i'd like to get the skills to do that one day.  Post pics!
This is all new to me! Ha! The staining will be easy. The lacquering is with an aerosol can, so that'll be relatively easy as well. For the oil, just use a lint-free cloth. The key is patience. Each step will require waiting a 1-3 days between next step or application. Putting it together should be pretty painless too (I hope). I'm very thankful that my sister & her husband both have a lot of experience soldering....because I have zero.whoanelly15 said:
That’s gonna look great! And indeed, Stewmac has some great stuff. Good luck!

Big strat headstock like a 70’s tele deluxe?

(Sadly, a stock photo - not my guitar, or my pool. Nor would I put my guitar by the pool. Still jealous.)
Well, I don't know if it'll look that nice, but I'm gonna give it a shot. Not sure what I'll do with the headstock, to be honest. I may just leave it as is. The good thing is that I have the time to decide while I do all of the other steps.

I'll probably have a bad dream tonight about one of my guitars falling into the pool and into the water.
    Plugged in.
And me holding it, just about to hit that Dm7th chord.

it does look nice. it looks like the routs for the pickups and controls are really well done as well. looks to be a very quality kit.

Yeah, it’s a lot better than I expected it to be. I would easily recommend using fretwire to anyone that wants to start a similar project.

I checked on it this morning before heading to the office. I think I’m happy with how dark it is, but will double check tonight with better lighting to be sure. If so, I’ll be lacquering tomorrow!

    Quick Tele update:
I’ve applied 2 coats of the aerosol lacquer & the finish is uneven is some spots, so I need to let it rest, then sand those spots and reapply. It’s my first rodeo, so I knew it wouldn’t be smooth sailing. I am pretty happy with the neck, but the body needs some reworking. Any tips for preventing drips/clotting? I did 2 light coats and was using even strokes. Here are some pics:

    One more update...
Once that rests long enough, I’ll also be working on the fretboard while re-lacquering those rough/clumpy spots. Happy Saturday, all!
