Man that would suck for baseball if that ended up happening as it would mean they'd miss out on two full seasons!moozeekfan said:The idea of no sports or live music until fall of 2021 (at the earliest) is soul-crushing to say the least.0 -
12 months seems a serious pushback, but I can only assume that's because the next 12 months or so are already planned. Maybe USA will end up being November, maybe the elusive Australian tour will happen in Feb/March (as their preferred time to visit Australia/NZ)Brisbane: 14/03/98, 08/02/03, 10/11/06, 25/11/09
Gold Coast: 19/01/14, 13/11/24
Melbourne: 16/11/24, 18/11/24
Ed solo: 12/03/11, 25/02/140 -
Yup. Sad but true.moozeekfan said:It all depends on when a vaccine is available and/or herd immunity. Fall 2021?This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0 -

There is no Vaccine. The goal of "flattening the curve" prevents the virus from spreading out of control, but it also prevents herd immunity. It's kind of the problem with the current solution. The only thing holding the virus back is everyone staying home. We all go back and it starts to spread. Large gatherings are probably the worst for it
I would think large public gatherings will the last thing to come back once restrictions start to lift.0 -
Agree with Zod. No cure soon. Concerts ain’t happening in 2020.0

Yeah, I’ve written off everything for the year. I think people will be back at work and school by August. But we’re gonna be doing this again before the year is out.0

And if that NYT Mag piece is correct, we won’t see much for all of 2021 either.0

They interviewed an oncologist I believe it said. Not exactly someone with a grasp of infectious viral diseases. Nothing has even been postponed for fall yet and states have mostly indicated they have passed peak outbreak.Tim Simmons said:And if that NYT Mag piece is correct, we won’t see much for all of 2021 either.
Look for events in middle america since the east and west coasts will stay shut down it sounds like.

Look for events in middle america since the east and west coasts will stay shut down it sounds like.Things don't cancel because they're taking a wait and see approach. No need to cancel a tour that doesn't start for 5 months until its necessary. On the flip side only a few bands that had spring tours rebooked to fall. Many are sitting and waiting. I read between the lines as they're not sure if they'll be able to tour this year.As for peak outbreak, the only thing that's causing it to slow down is people staying at home. That's why it peaked (or is about to peak). If people didn't stay at home it'd grow fast. This is why it's going to be hard to start putting things back to normal. The virus is still out there and will spread rapidly if we go back to normal. This is where I feel it's going to be tough. If it's going to take a year for a vaccine, I don't think the government (or us) can afford to sit at home for a year. Eventually something's going to give. It's a horrible choice. Let everyone go broke or opt to relax restrictions. Both have horrible outcomes.Either way, unless we opt that not going broker outweigh's deaths, and we all opt to go about life like normal. I don't see concerts starting for a while. As long as the virus is out there.... any large event would have the potential to cause mass outbreaks.0 -
Nope. There's no way to stop infected east and west coast fans from coming to the Midwest and spreading their disease. There is no shortage of sociopathic fans who wouldn't think twice about infecting hundreds of innocent people if it means they get to add another show to their personal tally.jimjam1982 said:

Even if we decide not going broke is more important, that doesn't mean concerts will return. There's a huge difference between letting 20 people go to work in an office, where safety measures can be monitored and enforced, and letting 20,000 gather in an arena.Zod said:jimjam1982 said:

Exactly what shza said.
Don't expect anything to reopen until the authorities are sure that it won't come back. So many idiots out there have the "I feel healthy and I'm not sure what the big deal is" mindset. Little do they know, they could have been infected days ago.
It's like fighting a wildfire. The last thing the firefighters want to do is assume it's out and they'll lower their guard. Next they know, it's burned another 15 acres because "oh, it looks like it's done with."Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -
This. Even when things "open" nothing will actually open. No bars, sports, concerts, restaurants. It'll just be some businessesLost In Ohio said:Exactly what shza said.
