Had a great time last night ...QOTSA were awesome....Was a few dramas everyone got evacuated into the 2nd song of the support act " The Fumes"........
Everyone had to stay outside for about 40 mins so that sucked...
They took our tickets of us as we entered and didnt give them back to us as they were told they had to evacuate immediately...So no doubt several lucky punters entered the hall that hadnt purchased tickets in the first place.
There were 1,900 ppl that purchased tickets so it was a nice cosy show.
It was all general admission and the mosh pit was going off...
Carly spent the whole show 2nd row in front of Josh Homme and scored his guitar pic...so she was stoked..
Downstairs was fully licensed, I sat upstairs where there wouldve been only about 80-100 ppl most of them were underage.....plenty of seats but I guess lots of young ppl werent into seeing the QOTSA also the price I guess was a but dear.
I had an awesome seat before the evacuation and wasnt looking forward to going back in....The security guard that was a female was really nice..I was the last person to leave the upstairs area and because of that I fininshed up being the first person in the queque to head back in. I asked the guard when it was time to go back in if I could have a headstart on the others...
And when her and this other dude was announcing how to re enter the building they let me go ahead and enter....I ran up 2 flighs of stairs and then was heading along the back row to get my seat back when these guys went running past and I yelled " Hey dont take my seat and with that they slowed in there tracks...HAHAHAHA
Anyway I think most ppl ended up sitting where they were b4 so that was cool....cos even tho upstairs was seated seats werent allocated at all....
Where I was everyone stood....they guys around me were the funniest bunch of guys ever...it was so funny watching and listening to them...LOL
So when we got back inside the support band didnt come back on and there was another band suppost to play as well and they didnt either. So it was straight into QOTSA...
Im hopless remembering song names so I cant tell u the setlist..But they were so good and it was so loud my ears were still stuffed this afternoon..
Josh Homme didnt talk too much and never introduced the band at all ...that was weird...He did however stop during a song and went off the stage down to the crowd cos he wanted to beat the shit out of the guy who threw something at him....the crowd went nuts and he loved it....hence nothing else got thrown at the stage or band after that......
It was hard to look at the merchandise cos they wouldnt let u into to the foyer until everyone had left the downstairs area....upstairs had an external exit...
I handed money into to carly to get me a poster....
It was Rhys Cooper one...he did some of the ones for Pearl Jam's 2006 tour.
I didnt know until she had got it that it was stamped and numbered I got 250/450.... So I was stoked with that..and each side show they did had a different poster..I wouldve liked to have got a tee but it was too hard to get back into the venue...
So yeah all in all it was a great night.........everyone seemed to enjoy the night even with the smoke alarm going off.....
Apparently they had to leave on a plane last night to head back to Melb...
Oh yeah and Josh Homme did a Q&A thing at the conservortium (s/p) of music at the uni yesterday.....
cool....:)
 I would've jumped at it if they were that cheap!
Yeah it's probably the nicest place I've stayed at, plus it's extremely convenient.
Be warned about choosing where to stay in Brisbane CBD. Accommodation MAY look pretty close to the CBD on a map, but in all reality it may be far away.
The Sebel is about a 5 minute walk to Queen St Mall, 3 minute walk to the Botanical Gardens, and about a 10-15 minute walk to Southbank (check out Southbank, it's really nice)
Use the Sebel as a guide and you can't go wrong.
I wouldn't go any further than Zig's recommendation.

Do you think the Astor is a long way from Queen Street Mall?

Wow! I didn't realise they were doing such small shows. That would have been awesome!!!
Each time we've stayed there we've had two couples staying in the 2 bedroom apartments which works out realllly cheaply!
The second last time I stayed there (2003) I had binoculars and I turned the lights off and sat on the balcony looking at everyone in the skyrises! ha ha SOOOOO much fun! I love watching people. Total voyeur! Leigh doesn't get it...

man you must be used to living in little old newcastle.
it's not that big a city. i've walked from southbank to the valley mall in about 25 minutes.
and if you don't like walking just buy a transit pass, which includes bus, train and citycat all on the one ticket. and you can get from one end of the city to the other in no time and no energy.
also a citycat ride is not a bad idea to see the city, you can get one anywhere and just ride it all day if you want, it goes along the river from St Lucia(inland) to Hamilton(neat the mouth of the river) going past southbank, the city, the valley. and you get to see all the rich fuckers that live on the river(that ed has mentioned one of the brissie bootlegs)
Do you think the Astor is a long way from Queen Street Mall?
Not really. It depends on what you want to do and see in Brissie. It makes it far away from from other places such as Southbank (just over 1km from the Astor) and the Botanical Gardens etc
As I said, I wouldn't have any problems with staying there, but I wouldn't want to stay anywhere further than that
Wow! I didn't realise they were doing such small shows. That would have been awesome!!!
Yeah was very small, but because its a small hall it was packed with the 1,900 ppl.
Just read an arcticle saying that thousands of fans has to be evacuated..............LMAO
and there was smoke...........definitely no smell of smoke.......

I'd go for it. I wouldn't worry about the train station. It only costs $20 in a taxi to get from the airport to the city
