The Democratic Presidential Debates

Yeah Bernie's best strategy is too just be louder and shout over the other candidates. Freaking annoying as hell.cincybearcat said:
Bernie certainly yells loud and acts like an jerk all the time, I agree.Spiritual_Chaos said:How would Pete survive in a debate against Trump?

But Lindsey Graham? He wouldn't be able to build a relationship with whomever challenged him, be it another Republican in the primary or the Democrat?Lerxst1992 said:pjl44 said:
I think there's a difference between a Democrat working with a Republican already in office vs. giving a Republican a pile of money to help in his campaign to defeat a Democratcincybearcat said:So, I watched part of the debate with someone that is right leaning moderate. Wants to vote Democrat. When Warren went after bloomberg for helping re-elected Lindsey G and talked about how he supported Repub and Dem candidates alike. They said "Isn't that a good thing? Don't you need to work with both?"
NYC needs it's fair share of funding from congress.
Per capita, NY always gets the short end of the financial stick (like PJ concerts per capita)
That's why he built relationships with both parties FFS warren.0 -
I agree with most of this.brianlux said:My take and final choice after tonight's debate:Bloomberg: Better this debate but still, Can't Buy Me Love.Warren: Not looking very presidential these days. Sorry, Liz. Stay in congress where we need you!Bernie: Takes the lead (for my vote) by a nose in the final round. I really liked his answers to the misunderstanding/motto question.Biden: Have great golden years, Joe, you deserve them. But not as president.Pete: Pete blew it for me with what I saw as arrogant posturing and ridiculous bating/misunderstanding over the Cuba thing.Klobuchar. Amy, Amy, Amy. I had hopes but a few too many stumbles for me. Try again next time!Steyer: A good try, but not my choice.
SC's OFFICIAL ranking of the SC debate:
1.
Biden: People saying Bernie yells need to point the finger at Biden too. But his anger worked here even though he is still leaning solely on what he has done (being Obamas friend and some bills in the past) over an inspiring idea about the future. Him always talking about how he never gets to talk is just weird. But it was in the end his debate.
2.
Bernie: Stood his ground a lot better against all the attacks than I would have thought. Didn't feel like anyone got in a fatal blow. Going on with the same lines without any new spin to them. Unnecessary getting dragged into the Fidel Castro-thing. I do however believe something has changed in his approach, because he was very calm, forthcoming and soft spoken both in the CBS interview following the debate and in his interview with CNN.
3.
Warren: Going all in on what worked last time - attacking Bloomberg. Felt like a tired modern day remake of a 80s horror classic at times. Still sharp. But feels a bit to panicky eager to not disappear into the background.
4.
Steyer: Seems to say a lot of sound things. But every time he shows up it's like talking to a stranger at a party you will never meet again.
5.
Pete: So, now he's lifting Bidens thing about Bernie not being able to flip the Senate? Is there anything about this man not taken from someone else? Also his pre-written platitudes make him come of as very scripted. No matter how many "We can't look to the old people for a vision of the future, we need to look to the future and the vision of the young" wordplays you throw out. Him going against Bernie's plans because of them being more left than Denmarks instead of with some tired "we can't afford it in the richest country in the world" or "it is not what the bald eagles in the sky wants America to do" was the most fatal blow at the debate. And to my knowledge he had not stolen it from somewhere.
6.
Amy: She's pretty much Steyer but who once got fifteen minutes of surge. Says the same things as always. Over and over. I'm done with her.
7.
Bloomberg: Shitty person and comes of as ingenuine. Also saying the US can't afford healthcare for it's people when every major country in the world can. I laughed out loud at work. Greed over the very baseline of a humane society. Am I Rite Bloomy.

"Michael Bloomberg is trying to present this old american talking-point, that you got two choices people: We can either be a Goldman Sachs country or we can be Maduros Venezuela. Those are your choices. That's the whole choice. We have come to a place in America which i find fascinating, where our understanding of gender is more fluid than our understanding of capitalism, socialism and democracy"

This is an especially great take considering Russian is our #1 adversary and attacking our elections. It is another cold war we just aren't participating yet. Kinda as bad as when Obama laughed at Romney for saying Russia was the greatest threat...and then obama doubled down by doing nothing to stop it. And now we have an idiot that welcomes it.Spiritual_Chaos said:"Michael Bloomberg is trying to present this old american talking-point, that you got two choices people: We can either be a Goldman Sachs country or we can be Maduros Venezuela. Your president is almost unintelligible in conversation, and like most cowards, doesn't put himself in situations where he has to confront dissent (especially not of the reasonable variety). If Trump does what his character suggests he will, he simply won't show up and will throw cheap punches from behind his Twitter account like he usually does, and you'll undoubtedly be right back here then to proudly declare the genius of your fearless leader.lindamarie73 said:Democrats....the gift that keeps on giving.
