I, too, am excited by this premise. I think it has been clearly established that a 007 agent is listened to kill and that there is more than one 007 agent.Spiritual_Chaos said:
I think the premiss of someone else having gotten the codename and a retired James Bond coming back is quite nifty.CROJAM95 said:Poor Idris Elba

when people think 007
they think the different actors who have played James Bond, beautiful Bond Girls, Bond Villains
Most Bond fans are older, I just see a backlash from the hardcore fans
It's better than the worn out "Bond, you have to go rouge and solve this outside of the MI6" like every Bond and Mission Impossible movie does nowadays zzz
I sort of want to agree, however, by making this information available before launch, it may pique interest in the franchise with some demographics that wouldn’t previously considered seeing a Bond movie in the theatre. I guess it’s a bit of a fine line.CROJAM95 said:They should have kept it a secret until the movie came out to boot
they are fucking this up Royally
Isn't it the "00" part that signifies licensed to kill, and the last number the specific agent? That makes Bond 007, and other agents would be 001, 002, etc. The series has had a 006 before.
I haven't seen a Bond film since Skyfall but am interested to see what comes of this.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -

But now Bond is retired, so another agent gets his number.
But - HE COMES BACK!
Saying you haven't seen a Bond film since Skyfall sort of implies there have been a few sequels, but there has only been Spectre after Skyfall. Which sucked. But this one ties into that one, so you should watch it - and the one-shot opening is nice."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
And people saying they should have kept this a secret... I mean, without having read the script and knowing how it is handled and how it is portrayed I would say a judgment on that is impossible to make."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

I would have thought they would retire the number, sort of like retiring a jersey. It's not like they're going to run out of numbers

They would run out of 00-numbers for their 00-agents? There are only 9 or 10.oftenreading said:Spiritual_Chaos said:

I believe numbers go higher than 10, in my experience. Some go quite a bit higher.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0

Hmm. Seems the movies have established there can be a "0012" etc. Always pictured it as being 001-009. And all I've heard of is 006 in Goldeneye, and wasn't there a 008 in Octopussy.oftenreading said:I believe numbers go higher than 10, in my experience. Some go quite a bit higher.
In Ian Fleming's James Bond novels and the derived films, the 00 Section of MI6 is considered the secret service's elite. A 00 (typically read "Double O" and denoted in Fleming's novels by the letters "OO" rather than the digits "00") is a field agent that holds a licence to kill in the field, at his or her discretion, to complete any mission. The novel Moonraker establishes that the section routinely has three agents concurrently; the film series, beginning with Thunderball, establishes the number of 00 agents at a minimum of 9, with the likelihood of more.

I personally think they should just have UK/british artists do the songs. And if not, then My Morning Jacket should have done it.
I think this sounds like a middle of the road Bond song. Kind of like Skyfall but without the strong chorus. It's nice and feels Bond-y enough but it's no Skyfall, You Know My Name or Goldfinger."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
Oh, man. I think it’s an instant classic Bond song—up there with “Goldfinger,” “For Your Eyes Only,” and “The World Is Not Enough.”Spiritual_Chaos said:I personally think they should just have UK/british artists do the songs. And if not, then My Morning Jacket should have done it.

It was the song directly after Die Another Day... so it would be both the worst and the best since Die Another Die...dankind said:

Holy shit! It felt like a decade passed in between those two films. Casino Royale deserved a better song.Spiritual_Chaos said:

It's often hailed as the best of the Craig songs and one of the greatest. So you are a bit alone here. But I respect your opinion.dankind said:

What are your 5 favorite songs?
ANd do you agree Ocopussy has the most underrated?"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
It just doesn’t sound like a Bond song at all to me. Neither does “Live and Let Die,” for that matter, but that’s just a classic tune. When I hear that one come on the radio, I never think of Bond, though. “You Know My Name” sounds like a B-side from an album that should’ve been shelved. There’s a reason we don’t hear that one on the radio.Spiritual_Chaos said:

“Goldfinger”
“The World Is Not Enough”
“For Your Eyes Only”
“GoldenEye”
“No Time to Die” (instant classic; may work its way up)
And yes, I agree that “All Time High” is highly underrated.Post edited by dankind onI SAW PEARL JAM0 -
