PJ Scotland are raising money for Diabetes UK

Throughout the year Pearl Jam Scotland (with the help from friends from all over the world) have had several events with the aim to raise at least £10,000 for Diabetes UK.
There have been raffles, concerts and the sale of the Pearl Jam Scotland unicorn tshirts.
This picture was taken on the 23rd November in Glasgow after a fundraiser in the afternoon and the gig of a PJ tribute band in the evening. PJ fans from all over the UK, continental Europe and the US joined us for an unforgettable weekend of shenanigans, banter, music and fundraising.
And we're super proud to announce that we've cracked the 10k.
Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, bought tshirts or just cheered from the sidelines.
There are still unicorn tshirts for sale. £10 of each shirt goes to Diabetes UK.

Colin has been fundraising for a few years for Diabetes UK now because his son has type1. Martin and I did a wee fundraiser in 2018 for 2 cancer charities, which is were the first version of the unicorn tshirts appeared - all hand printed back then and the design was a lot simpler.
In 2019 the two of them decided to combine their efforts and Martin was happy to fundraise for Diabetes UK since his godson has type1. I have an insulin resistance, which if not looked after can turn into type2 eventually, so it's a no-brainer for me as well.
It's brought a lot of people together and the Scottish PJ community is super active and meets up all the time. A lot of new friendships were forged the last 2 years. It's been amazing to be a part of that.
It all happens on Facebook. But I am happy to keep adding updates and events to this, so everyone has a chance to come along :-)

We are absolutely stoked about everything we've achieved in 2019.
With our collective efforts we have raised £11,511 for Diabetes Scotland/UK!!!
But not only that, we've had events that brought people together - from all over Scotland but also the UK, Europe and North America. There is a sense of community among the Scottish Pearl Jam fan. It's amazing to watch and be a part of.
The shirts are still on sale until the end of January - and yes, we ship world wide :-)

And we already have new events in the works.

Is this in support of Type I Diabetes (T1D)? I've been living with T1D for 37 years. Diagnosed at 5 years old. Have been fortunate to have good health care and good health to date. Dodging some of the worst complications (blindness, kidney failure, amputation). Our family are regular contributors to the JDRF here in the US and with only so much to go around, I wanted to throw a cheer of support your way.

Dibetes UK works with both types of diabetes, from funding research, offering help for patients and their friends and families to schooling health professionals. You can check them out here, if you like. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/
Thank you for cheering us on and I am glad to hear, that you've been doing okay so far, it can't be easy. I am keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way  :)

We're super stoked to let you all know, that Pearl Jam Scotland received this year's Diabetes UK Fundraising Award.
Thank you Pearl Jam for leading by example and being an inspiring bunch of people - without you guys none of this would have happened.
And of course this would have never happened without the PJ community, who invested time, money, energy, merch and so much more.
The local community has also become super close and we all have friends now, we'd never met two years ago - we constantly shake our heads at all the good shit that has come out of this.
Here is a wee podcast of how all of this came to be
