After Wrigley 2018, never again either. The diminished concert experience just wasnt worth the money, travel, time off, etc.evenflow82 said:After Wrigley 2013...never again.

Meh. States that can't get their shit together well enough not to vote for Trump shouldn't be rewarded.___________________________________________

Never understood the hate for ballpark shows. Everyone involved has a great time and there are always plenty of surprises. Not to mention the city overrun with more PJ fans than you’d typically see. They’ll be plenty of options next year but stadiums every couple of years is a niche this band thrives in.To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

Absolutely agreed. They become like mini fan conventions. Wrigley 2013 and Seattle 2018 felt like we had taken over both cities.100 Pacer said:Never understood the hate for ballpark shows. They have fans that didn't vote for Trump in every state. If they want to screen their destinations based on red/blue, that's their choice obviously, but I give them more credit than to make that the litmus for show locations.JimmyV said:Meh. I don't disagree at all. I guess I should have said, "States that can't get their shit together well enough not to vote for Trump shouldn't be rewarded because of that."Noload said:

The band is going to play where the band is going to play, and I doubt red/blue is really much of a consideration.___________________________________________

I am a mile and a half away and the sound quality is diminished, if not distorted at times. Unless I go into a giant GA pit with all sorts of competition for personal space. The whole scene is very open-air and the very opposite of 'intimate'. From a $200? seat last year, I couldn't even see Mike 70% of the time as he was blocked by the rigging/stage, and couldnt see the drum kit at all. Had to watch on the screen for the most part.100 Pacer said:Never understood the hate for ballpark shows. Everyone involved has a great time and there are always plenty of surprises. The venues themselves (like Wrigley) arent designed for that many humans. Everything is packed and uncomfortable, whether its the streets around the stadium, gates to get in, or the concourses.
The weather uncertainty, with the urgency of lots of $$$ spent for travel.
The merch conventions blown up. 4-6 posters for the show(s). I realize we get this with more conventional shows, but with these ballpark shows the merch thing is injected with roids.
And yes, a Pearl Jam concert is still a concert. But for me, to take multiple days off of work, pay money for flights, beg parents or in-laws to watch the kids for a few days, board the dog, pay for hotel room, etc, the ballpark show is not enough of a payoff of a concert experience. There is a lot of alternative things I would rather do with that currency than see a ballpark show.Post edited by MayDay10 on0 -
rewarded? doucheknuckle WON those states. more reason for them to go into PA, MI, Ohio, Florida, Carolinas. Tie in voter registration, etcJimmyV said:Meh. States that can't get their shit together well enough not to vote for Trump shouldn't be rewarded.Marquee 91

Yeah, I'm pretty much with you. If they play Fenway again, I'll go, but I'm definitely ready to get back to arena shows. I'm happy it was all reserved seating, though. GA would make it a tougher call.MayDay10 said:

Don’t blame the large cities in Texas for the rural voters that keep electing morons. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0

I know this makes me public enemy number 1 in this place but a return to Hyde Park for the 10th anniversary of the first time they played there would be great."Hey Eddie, great show-- fuck you!"

July and August dates, please. May and June suck for my schedule.

And arenas, not stadiums.

Yeah, I'm not going to NOT go to Fenway, should it happen. But given the choice between a couple shows at TD Garden and Hartford, I'm picking the latter every time.0
