Those two tracks would make a good final.

I'd still give the edge to "Gimme Shelter," though.

More people know it, Mick doesn't fake a southern US accent through the entire song, and it has a little more variety.
Haha, yeah, nothing compares to Dead Flowers for his fake accents!  Still, that whole run of albums was just unmitigated genius by the Stones.

"Dead Flowers" is one of my 9-year-old daughter's three favorites songs. It's strange to hear her sing about needles and spoons, but whatever, we can't all be superparents.

Her favorite song when she was 2 years old was "Gangsta Gangsta," but I had to stop playing that one because I just knew that if I ever heard the N word escape her mouth, even if she was just singing along, I'd likely slap the blonde out of her hair.

That's one way to bring the thread to a complete halt. Here's another...

I gave a thought to starting a 90's version, but it's hard to find popular 90's albums with 10 or fewer songs.

The CD era kinda made albums a lot longer, didn't it?

    Is that max poll size?

...You could "hold back" the more-popular songs during the first round. For example, if you did the 12-track Nevermind don't put in SLTS and Come As You Are until round #2, once the first two songs have been eliminated.

Correction: You'd have to hold back either Lithium or In Bloom too due to its 13th (hidden) track.

...this is what was done for the PJ albums a couple of years ago.

Sure did.  If I recall, most are anywhere between 11-15 tracks on the norm.

That's an idea.  I'll go back and check all those polls out and maybe get something started over the weekend. If I get something together (and I'm not guaranteeing I will), it might not be the exact same thing Kevin was doing. I don't want to take his baby away but I'll keep it as true to tradition as possible. I have an idea of some things I want to do and it would span multiple genres.

I hope he's out there cooking up something good for a "weakest link" poll.  If I had the time I would do one for The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Electric Ladyland in two parts:  Do each LP separately and then a run-off between the song picked from each disc.

I think the threads are great. Without sounding too "judgy" maybe some of the albums you chose got a little "out there" as time went on. With this said, I TOTALLY appreciate that you may have been trying to mix it up a little and challenge us to listen to artists beyond the traditional Rock Gods.

Ha!  Look at that 1994 switch!  I remember having one of those.  Love the dirty white color of everything back then.
