Sonic Youth was GOOD! I liked them way back and still do....it was great to see them on tour with the Boys.
PJ rocked! I was very happy with my seats, most of my fellow jammers around me, and the energy. I admit, energy has been better in past shows in Vegas and that's why i travel there to see. But no complaints from me.... fuck after the Denver show this was like AMAZING!
What still blows my mind was the GR show... as Ed said that night "who knew?

RBuckley73 wrote:Long time fan, first post. I'm usually content to just read others observations and comments about my favorite band. I took a day to think about this but Las Vegas crowds suck, this hurts me to say because I'm a native born and breed. I've been to 10 shows around the country (and Canada) and have had remarkable experiences. Without going into all the details about the past, the last straw were 2 drunk fans Floor D row L 1 & 2. I didn't pay to hear you two discuss your ideal set list, likes and dislikes about every song. I didn't mind your off key sing along with your made up lyrics, but talking threw entire songs because its your least favorite on the album is bullshit. The burn was how all concert you pined for Comatose, and you would go back to the tables for the free drinks if they would just play the song. Then they play it in the 2nd encore, only to find out you two had left to go puke on each other. So, Sing along, smoke pot, sit, stand anything but talk to your buddy over Eddies lyrics. Anyway on to LA .
PS: To the dude in front of me lay off the weed its making you paranoid my girl was not going to steal your posters.
I have to agree with some of the Vegas crowd being pretty lame. There was a guy in front of us who kept talking to me about how much the new album sucks, but he was ALL about evenflow when they played it. hahaha! It seemed like a lot of people in my section weren't really into it. I don't see how that's possible. Their seats were so close, the show kicked ASS....and HELLO!....it's Pearl Jam. Idiots. We’ll meet again, but not yet…not yet.0 -
I cant believe how some of you are complaining. I am a native of vegas...and I go see shows regularly here in town. That was a great show to me. I mean I dont go see Pearl Jam as often as some of you...but they dont come here that often either. What every 3 years or so?Personally i have only been to 2 pearl jam shows, and I have been disappointed myself. HOw is it, i go to the first gorge show, and this show, they dont play the song i want to hear, but the next night in san diego they play it. You can complain about smoking weed, having beered poured all over you, and all that junk. I have been to plenty of metal shows , one in fact i got my ass kicked by chuck liddell! my friend brandy had gum stuck in her hair and she left, because these 2 dumbfucks behind us were fighting over a stupid drumstick!Yet you think our crowd was lame? you havent been to any other shows here in vegas to make that claim! one doesnt give you the right, just as it wouldnt give me the right to complain about goign to a pearl jam show in another city, after only seeing them twice in my life...im thinking this just might be my last pearl jam show.0

Here's a post I made under the San Diego Fanview which has some of my (long-winded) thoughts on Vegas...
http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=204524&page=6
It's a shame you guys thought the crowd was lame in LV. I had the best people around me EVER! It was my 2nd or 3rd favorite show. The only thing making it rank lower is that I've had 3rd row twice and this show was cut a little shorter than I'd prefer. But the side-stage seats in LV were EXCELLENT! Totally different experience. Jeff made eye contact with me several times which was cool because he never makes eye contact w/anybody. LOL. I had a rail next to me and used it for my "air guitar." It was just a fantastic vibe and a great set-list. The sound was perfect. Parachutes. OH MY GOD. Ed doesn't need to apologize for his voice on this, he sounded great and that song is really hard to sing.
To the crowd in Vegas. I salute you. You people in my section were off the hook and so much fun to be around!
And to the pot-smoker basher that has no business on this thread, just for your information, I personally smelled absolutely no pot in Vegas. San Diego, on the other hand, was the most pot-smelling concert I've ever attended in my life. Everywhere it was very, very strong. Unfortunately, they didn't share any with me.
I'm guessing LV isn't getting the "love" that SD is because the folks in SD were pretentious assholes; Not trying to offend you nice folks out there, but dayum SD people left a bad taste in my mouth. The mix of people in Vegas just prolly don't feel the need to hype the show up to extraordinary proportions to make themselves appear so much "cooler" than everyone else. Sure, SD had a special feel, but frankly the hype is not warranted in my opinion.
LV was too short is all I've got bad to say about it. The band was giving less in LV than in SD, but it was still a better show IMO. Soundwise, tightness, and setlist.0 -

The people around me in my section were great. But, the crowd energy as a whole was pretty limp.
The crowd was INSANE the entire show the last time I saw PJ, which was Vancouver '05. The crowd in Vegas '06 seemed to fall asleep half way through the show.
It wasn't even sold out. Sort of depressing to see 2 sections in the very back of the arena which were almost completley empty.11-2-2000 Portland. 12-8-2002 Seattle. 4-18-2003 Nashville. 5-30-2003 Vancouver. 10-25-2003 Bridge School. 9-2-2005 Vancouver.
7-6-2006 Las Vegas. 7-20-2006 Portland. 7-22-2006 Gorge. 9-21-2009 Seattle. 9-22-2009 Seattle. 9-26-2009 Ridgefield. 9-25-2011 Vancouver.

but did you mention that those seats were up at the top....where im sure not that many people would like to be up there...0

You're prolly right about the crowd as a whole being overall "limp". But not too shabby either. Better crowd than most of the shows I've seen. Except for San Diego last night (or whenever it was. I'm jacked up from traveling weird hours and time changes, etc, right now and don't even know what day it is). I'd like to catch a show in Canada. I get the sense that people there overall are a bit more appreciative of the band.
Didn't notice any empty sections, but San Diego "seemed" more empty to me than LV. This is why I want PJ to be commercially successful - Touring has got to remain lucrative for them because I'd hate to see them quit touring. Depressing is right, but I think they're doing ok still. Even RS said they were one of the few acts that are going strong and making $$ right now.0 -
washmylungs wrote:just got back to Dallas, TX from Vegas. the show was amazing, could not have asked for more from the band. amazing set, great choice of songs, new and old. loved every second of it. crowd seemed great to me, i danced my ass off, paid way to much for drinks...but it didnt matter.
hoping i get to see them again this tour in TX...in 2007
Hi Dallas person. We landed at DFW at 5:30 this morning ourselves. Glad you had a blast. Drink prices were on par with all other venues - highway robbery. Had you gambled some you could have gotten a few free ones before the show : )
And off the subject, but what airline did you use to get to Vegas? We used American Airlines and the flight was delayed 2 hours. Made me miss almost all of Storytellers, but such is life. However, American Airlines will be hearing from me (and some other disgruntled people on my flight). Their baggage check lady was a mean bitch and the ticket clerk or whatever she was, would have been fired on the spot if she were my employee. I won't go into it but her behavior was unacceptable and appalling. Lots of people were complaining about her. It was unbelievable to witness her unprofessionalism. Just wondered if you used AA and if you had any bad experiences with them as we did. We'll be avoiding AA in the future.0 -

Hi Dallas and Mellow!!!
LOL,... I'm a Texan that is still travelling. We are gearing up for LA tonight - then on to SB and SF.
Mellow, I must have been right in front of you.I agree, the LV fans on Mike's side up front were kickass. We had a wonderful time and met a bunch of really cool people in Vegas. SD crowds were nice, just... well maybe not as friendly as Vegas. (if that makes any sense?)
Either way, LV was amazing - and I hope it comes out in the WASH just how special that night was.0 -
My wife and I traveled from Indiana just to see Pearl Jam and it was awesome. It was my second show but the firsy for my wife, the setlist was great with a good mix of new and old. In my opinion they have never sounded better. I'm still pumped. Can't wait until next year!Ricky Bernard0

TO all of you who took the time to post your notes about the vegas concert here. i am only getting to see one of the san fran shows this tour. so it is soooo great to get a chance to see /feel what goes on from YOUR eyes.
and to those of you posting about rude people... remember that most of the morons are prolly not pearl jam fans. soooo, they are not on here reading your never-ending complaints . lighten up. there are some of us who would have liked to be in vegas for that show, even if someone threw gum in our hair or was paranoid about posters. SMILE.

Great show, I met some great people, it was my first time sitting on the floor so close to the stage (row 3).0 -
Great show, and thanks for those pics. The set list was perfect with mix of new and old. The crowd wasn't great, but most people at these shows are only looking for the songs off of ten, versus or vitalogy. Great Dirty Frank tag during Porch. The bottom line is the boys rocked, and see them as much as you can becuase there is not a band better live.

I actually was not too impressed with the setlist. I was hoping for many other songs, especially big wave which i thought they would for sure bring out for this part of the tour. missed it by one night, along with most of the songs i was hoping to hear. that's my luck though - i still haven't heard yellow ledbetter live, even though i've been to 5 shows. what are the chances?East Troy Icebowl: October 2000
