Would have preferred them picking Vaults from all the eras and years, and not choosing a show taking place on the same tour and one week after another Vault-show so soon after that one.

    The same with the 1998-shows.

So, I would have rather have had this VAULT #15 or whatever and have had some 1997, 1996, 2004 etc in between. And some shows that are not from the US.
Agreed. I've had enough of the earlier shows. I'm sincerely ONLY buying them at this point to keep the collection complete (I can't seem to help it even though I want to not do that) - it's been maybe a few years now since a Vault was really really good IMO. That is a bit disappointing. I want some Jack Irons, and more that include at least Riot Act, and some S/T would be nice too..... I know what would make the wait for those eras a lot easier: RELEASE VAULT 2 ON VINYL!!!
Enough of the earlier shows?  There's like 10 official bootlegs from 1990-99 and how many hundreds of bootlegs from 2000 on?  I say keep the vault from 1990-99.
    1990-0
    1991-0
1992-2  Vault 1, Drop in the park
    1993-2  Vault 5, Vault 9
    1994-1  Live at the Orpheum
    1995-1  Vault 7
    1996-0
    1997-0
    1998-3  Live on 2 Legs, Vault 3, Vault 6
    1999-0
    2000- 72 + Vault 4
    01/02-0
    2003- 73 +  Benny
    2004- 0
    2005- 32 + Vault 8
    2006- 71

    2001 - 2x Bridge School nights etc
2004 - with all the political covers and guest artists

Are more "fun" concert tours for a vault to me than a 1996 show or MGS 1998.

2007 - even though I would like London (all 10c floor) or Copenhagen I can see are very similar to 2006. And they should just be released as digital downloads instead (if they were recorded).

I also prefer them to do shows that are shorter. Because having a 3h show on vinyl will just mean I won't play it. So finding shorter benefit-shows etc for the vaults is cooler to me than a regular, normal concert.

As in I wouldn't have a problem with a vault being groundworks 2001:

Instead of fifteen vinyls to switch between and 100 dollars in shipping costs. Haha.

EDIT: Vault #2 chicago was a good one. But obviously someone thinks it's not worthy of a vinyl release...

  • I am interested to see if this is the full show or not. If not, to me it actually is a good sign. It sounds like the majority of the pre 2000 shows will have missing gaps or songs. I hope they still continue to put these shows out. If they turn to only releasing complete shows, I believe that they will be releasing stuff that a fair amount of us have already heard.

We all know the different eras of Live PJ.  Every tour feels different. Jack shows are different than Dave A shows. Early Matt shows are different than later shows.

I love how the Vaults capture that.  We just need an Hawaii/Australia/New Zealand ‘98 show next.  B)   Those Jack Yield shows are some of my favorites

    Nice list!
My guess is "early " refers to the Dave A era. Like you, I'm certainly on board with some more Jack shows (not necessarily because of him but because of the songs).

definitely focus on the pre 2000 era, I just don't get why people want to shoe horn these vault releases into periods where nearly 100% of the shows were available on disc, download and many currently still available for download.

There will be very little pre 1993 as is, Brett Eliason did not begin multi-tracking shows in earnest until the fall 1993 versus tour, prior to that there are probably a handful of multi-tracks if I had to guess.

There are at minimum probably 6 fall 1993 Spring 1994 still worth releasing, 3 from each I would like to see for sure

    -Berkley 10.31.93
    -Dallas 11.12.93
    -UNO 11.17.93
    -Chicago 3.13.94

There's a flipside to that coin, why would people wanna shoe horn these vault releases into a period where they had no albums to pick songs from and you just hear Ten and VS over and over.

Releasing two nights from a Bridge School benefit > any concert from 91-94

I'd like unique shows that differ. Regardless of era. But I do want them to cover every era. Including the early stuff.

Yeah, I would blindly choose anything from the 90's than anything from 2000 onwards..  just because we have literally hundreds of official releases from 2000 onwards, and only a few ones from before.. I don't get how anyone could say "enough of the early shows"?! I love their recent shows, but the recent and modern PJ era has been very well represented by countless of official releases, the same can't be said for the "early years". Also, eveything don't have to be on damn vinyl (and I love vinyl); in my opinion one Vault show a year on vinyl is more than enough, but it would be so great if more unheard soundboards came out each year, just on digital or CD.

Me too. Or better say, I'd like to buy them all. That's doable for me with just one a year, not so much if it becomes a quarterly or something stuff.

My favorite live PJ era is VS - Live at the Gorge.  So thats a 12 yr window

98 is my favorite tour as a whole.   So i guess Vault 8 is the newest that i would want my vaults to be and Vault 5 is the oldest

Yes, I've had enough of the earlier shows, like 91 - 94, as in I don't want any more of them as Vaults on vinyl. There is not enough material that early for me - I don't want Vault after Vault with a bunch of the same early career songs on the them. I like more variety. But either way, restricting the Vaults from 90-99 would be really stupid.

Benny, Live at easy street, vault 8, third man records, live on ten legs, let s play two and pj20 isn’t enough for you?
if I counted right that is 7 live records for 1990-99 and 7 live records for 2000 and beyond. (Pj 20 counts as both).  So imo they are doing a pretty good job of mixing it up.

How many have Benny on vinyl?
Live at Easy Street is an EP pretty much
Live on ten legs is a compilation
Lets Play Two is a soundtrack with just selected tracks
PJ20 - That's both studio cuts and live, and a compilation from all eras.

The band also jammed a lot more in early days, played sick improvs, and extended stuff a lot more than they do now. More spontaneity within the songs and the set. So no, not as diverse, but more emotion, power, and raw feel

How many have Benny on vinyl? Just over 2,000.
Live at Easy Street is an EP pretty much  From 2006
Live on ten legs is a compilation  Just like live on 2 legs
Lets Play Two is a soundtrack with just selected tracks from shows in 2016
PJ20 - That's both studio cuts and live, and a compilation from all eras.  I agree and typed that already.
EASY STREET WAS RECORDED IN 2005 YOU NOOB!
That would be correct; my bad on the typo.

Anyway -- I want a 10inch box set of all Bridge School shows. LETS GO!
A bridge school release would be sweet.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Are these rhetorical questions? No, those aren't enough for me. I don't want any more vaults that are pre-No Code, and want more that are post-Riot Act. I am sick of boots from the early days.

(but I can't say I care for the full albums being played at shows in general. Not with any band. It's not awful, but I'd prefer that it not be done. Full albums aren't formatted for live shows, and I feel that when bands do it)

I guess there are two camps here: Ones who are more concerned with what's to be put on wax and ones who just wants digital files of never-been-heard (in good quality) performances.
