    This is his last. And I think they had to throw money on him to return this time. 

    They have really fucked up the Craig run. Sony/the Brocolis have had some real problems starting up these films.

    They have had problems getting the movies off the ground, they have had problems with scripts. Craig has not been happy with the problems/tempo.

    Casino Royale came out in 2006. This will be the fifth Craig film and it comes out in 2020. Between QoS (underrated) and Skyfall (overrated) I think it was 4 years. Between this one and Spectre, there will have been 4 and a half years. 

    Brosnan had roughly 2 years between his films.

    As I said in the very post you quoted: "Sony/the Brocolis have had some real problems starting up these films. "

    While Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as James Bond in the next film, the franchise is set for a shake-up, with reports claiming that black British actor Lashana Lynch has been cast as 007 – taking over Bond’s secret agent number after his character leaves M16.

    Most Bond fans are older, I just see a backlash from the hardcore fans

    I think the premiss of someone else having gotten the codename and a retired James Bond coming back is quite nifty.

    It's better than the worn out "Bond, you have to go rouge and solve this outside of the MI6" like every Bond and Mission Impossible movie does nowadays zzz

    I agree, would have been a nice surprise. Too bad so many studios and producers want to spoil things theses days.

    I, too, am excited by this premise.  I think it has been clearly established that a 007 agent is listened to kill and that there is more than one 007 agent.

    I sort of want to agree, however, by making this information available before launch, it may pique interest in the franchise with some demographics that wouldn’t previously considered seeing a Bond movie in the theatre.  I guess it’s a bit of a fine line.
