No, not in Austin. I’m there all the time and they may have a little better transit, but not great. Most Texas cities are “spread out” and the priority was set for drivers . There are no Subways (other than the restaurantmrussel1 said:

Depressing thing is that in Lubbock, for example, they tried to get a good system of rentable scooters and things to make getting around more convenient for pedestrians, but after the basketball playoffs this year, a bunch of idiots threw them in the lakes. I wonder about those scooter things. We have three companies competing here in Gothenburg with the electric scooters. But I don't get why all of them don't end up in the canal on friday/saturday night..? But hasn't happened yet. I guess you need just the right sporting event for it to happen.PJPOWER said:

It wasn’t a failed policy. In fact, it had tangible effects and did as intended. Lots of history here and explanation of the results and why you might think it failed.mrussel1 said:
Busing was a failed policy. I find it interesting that all of these people who weren't subject to it are extolling it. There's a reason it's been dead for 35 plus years. I was a bit disappointed by Harris's comment on it, as I found it opportunistic. I also didn't understand if she was saying that she was bused and that it was a good thing, or what. The reality is that large majorities of blacks and whites were against the policy at the time. When it's your kids on the bus for 3 hours a day, it makes a difference. I pointed out before that all research showed that it didn't change test scores for AA's and worse, it created the 'white flight' epidemic that pulled needed tax dollars out of the cities, as people moved to the suburbs.PJ_Soul said:
Full disclosure, my sister was bused in Cleveland city schools, from the west side to the east side. It's what led my family into the suburbs. The story is not unique. My parents were very much against the policy. It wasn't that they were racist, they just didn't want her on the bus 3 hours a day.

There are no tangible effects documented in this article. In fact, the only data represented was a 30 year old study that even the author is forced to attribute to the "trifecta" as she calls it of 1. Head start programs 2. increased school funding 3. forced integration. The study covers 40 years so how she possibly credit busing (not even lawful desegregation, but forced busing) as the reason? She can't possibly. The Rand corp studies that she neither links to or calls out by by name, conducted contemporaneously she dismisses as being conducted too soon. That may be, but that's the only data that isn't corrupted by massive Title III spending increases on poor schools and Head Start. These are the programs that have been in place for 30 plus years now and we continue to invest in them today. In fact, Biden's education plan focuses on heavy increases in Title III particularly in Hispanic dominated schools which have not seen the test gap narrowing at the same pace as black schools.Halifax2TheMax said:

And speaking of shmoles, these two men are the kind of activists we need in this country. I know Chad is too young to be president, but he has a serious career ahead of him if he's able to continue advocating for meaningful change, like boking the shmoles from your squad.
Thanks SC.

Remember when someone said it was all nice and dandy because he could pay for his MRI scan, so everything was a-ok.
900 dollars for 5 pills every month.
Comparison with other countries:
Which system has the most compassion for its citizens - one where they just have to spend 350 dollars per capita or one where it is 3 times that amount?
