It's a hopeless situation...0 -
I just hope the cover art is rockin' this time around.
No more "my first day with illustrator"-covers made for itunes or "my first time coloring a comic in photoshop - look at my gradients!" if it will be used on tour merch.
Have it be more analog and handmade like Riot Act and the ones before that.
Starting with whatever the Avocado cover was (THE GRADIENTS AGAIN)... come on now.
SAY NO TO GRADIENTS IN 2020 PEARL JAM"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
I am not too excited about another album from Pearl Jam. When I see how much effort and thought goes into The National making a record (they still care about the art and musicality of it), I'm less interested in uninspired mid-tempo rockers, pseudo punk songs and Ed solo songs that somehow make the album. There have been good songs on the last two records but a whole lotta average dad rock.
If I read about the making of the next record and it includes the typical..."we all sent each other demos"; "we recorded for three weeks and didn't have enough songs so we took another year break"; "we tried not to overthink it"; "the first take is typically the best", etc..... then I won't expect much.
I would rather a huge swing and a miss than another LB or Backspacer. Maybe I'm just expecting Pearl Jam to not be Pearl Jam after they have been together 25+ years. I should just listen to The National if I want more piano driven rock, and if I want songs like Supersonic then I should listen to Pearl Jam.

Well, now, LB is my least favorite album too, but to call it "crap"..

The fan base needs to find other things to occupy their time. Pearl Jam isn't the sun; the world doesn't have to revolve around them ALL the time.

At this point I'd even be satisfied with a single. Especially the single Analog members haven't received from when that was still supposed to be part of the package. But that's old news now, isn't it?!

I'm going to see EV solo at Ohana for the first time this fall because I love his music and this band. At this time, I will still always find a way to make it to PJ if they are in my area, but that doesn't really happen much anymore, which is why I am travelling to see EV solo and make a vacation out of it at the same time.
I understand some people love the merch, but it gets old for me and even the last few vaults haven't really excited me that much. They have become formulaic the last 3 - 4 years and it's not a formula I like that much. Just my opinion. It's a hopeless situation...0 -
Not a LB fan but its still a good listen. Backspacer is killer tho. When you think about it, THAT is PJ trying something different. That’s as pop friendly/arena friendly as they’ve been since Yield and Ten. Probably more. Love Backspacer. Nothing wrong with short tunes with hooks.
Backspacer is aging really well. It’s just a refreshing light album.Post edited by cp3iverson on0 -
You don’t have to like everything the band does and there are ways to express that without being rude. Please see the Posting Guidelines especially #1
