I am going to pre-caveat this with don't worry about me, don't feel like you need to say sorry or give me condolences because this brings me a lot of happiness to actually think about.

My boy, who had a challenging life of illness, learning disabilities, medical interventions, etc,  he loved music, really loved musicals.  But there was one Pearl Jam song he would always tell me to put back on and not let me hit skip.  When a song came on if someone tried to skip it or turn the dial if he liked it he would say "Hey, I like that song..."  and so we would almost always put it back on for him, because hey everyone deserves a little indulgence.

With PJ it was Daughter.  That song has taken a bit of deeper special meaning to me since his passing.  It is the one little link he and I have with the band.
His eminence has yet to show.

I was working out in the basement the other day. My 5 year old son came down and starting playing on his sister’s gymnastics bar. I was listening to music, but not PJ. He looks at me and says “Dad, put on Pearl Jam please. It really helps me focus.”

We have an almost 4 year old son who essentially does a whole dance routine to footsteps. At least 6 times a week. It’s awesome
    Hamilton 05, 11, Cleveland 06, Toronto 09, 16, Buffalo 10,13, London 13, Seattle 13, Detroit 14, Milwaukee 14, Ottawa 16, Fenway 1, Wrigley 1
    Seattle 1 & 2, Missoula, Wrigley 1 & 2

  • One time last year my kid (then 2) asked to see a video of Pearl Jam, so I pulled up Pinkpop or something on my phone. He scowled at it for a while and then asked, "what he saying?" Ah, the eternal question...
But anyway, he's 3 now and requests Pearl Jam every time we put on music around the house. Sometimes he'll settle for Soundgarden.

last night my son was singing to the tune of Smile, "Free cookies and swirls all around!" (rather than "Three crooked hearts, swirls all around")

I'm still chuckling about that one.

I love these stories! In the four years since this thread last saw the top I went through a divorce and lost both of my parents. It makes me appreciate “all the precious moments” even more. So if you have more of these stories, I’d love to read about them.

I took my teen daughter shopping the other day and had pj radio on as usual. She says I like this one..it had a great groove. It was Do the Evolution. I was so excited. She also likes I am Mine and Evenflow.

Isn't it a failure if your kids don't rebel and find their own music.
