Worst Pearl Jam song ever....

Aside from the filler tracks, I'd say Let The Records Play is my least favourite. I had a lot of hate for Do The Evolution back in the day but it mellowed a little as I saw some great live versions (Ed's high note in Stockholm 2012 was insane). Songs redeem themselves in my eyes if they are way better live-eg I don't like the sound of Binaural but love hearing those tracks in concert. I could really feel the bite of Stone's guitar in Can't Deny Me at Fenway and I can tolerate it now haha. Gonna See My Friend, No Way and a couple others never grew on me as time passed. But it's all a subjective crapshoot isn't it. They never needed my opinion while writing my favourite music ever and I'd never ever want our opinions to influence them for fear of fixing what isn't broken.

The first 2 albums are perfect. Ten & Vs.
Not one song which irritates me or bugs me or still not getting tired of in more then 20 years. Heck, the only get stronger.
On Vitalogy they put on “Hey Foxy shit”. I was stunned. Wtf was that. But ok. It’s my favorite band but this song is nothing to me. In fact, top 3 of worst recordings ever from PJ.
Then No Code, wtf was “I’m open”. Damn. Again a fuck up and the rest is so brilliant. Damn.
Yield, what a record. Love it but damn Jeff. “Push me, Pull me”. What where you thinking. Hate it.
Binaural. Some very strong songs but again Jeff is shitting me and I love the dude. Coolest guy on earth but songwriter is something else.
    “Gods Dice”. Gods shit actually.
But then you realize that “NAIS” is his song. Damn. That one is crazy good.
Riot Act. The almost lost me with this album. Only a few songs make it, rest is shit with “Ghost & Help help” as rock bottom.

Pearl Jam the Avocado album. Some good, some bad but also very shit numbers.
    Are they still my band?
Yes, live they always come through. Luckily in Amsterdam it is always Ten and Vs time.

Finally Backspacer. Almost every song is hitting me. The End doesn’t warm me up.
They are getting back on track.
Lightning Bolt. No bad songs. They are definitely back.
Live they always come through but please, never ever play Foxy live.

No bad songs on Lightning Bolt? You remind me of Fanch who would do drunken reviews of albums on this board. I can’t say I agree with much of what you posted. You clearly don’t care for experimental music, and that’s fine. But I think you’re really missing out on some solid songs. Not the best songs, but songs I’d rank higher than pretty much anything from the last 3 albums.

Dude, I'd never say a bad word about Push Me, Pull Me.

We know, fanch. How many Natty Lights does that song get?

Foxy Mop & Bugs. Vitalogy should have ended with Immortality. I can listen to everything else. Even Sweet Lew.

Foxy mop is easily the worst track/painful listen released
  • Can I add Future Days. I hadn’t heard it in a year or so and it came on today. Ranks with Ole, Johnny Guitar and Let the Records Play

    This.
Foxy mop is the only song I cannot listen to at all. It's the only one I skip 100% of the time.

You've listed two of my least favourite: Ole and Johnny Guitar.

I'll never forget in Vancouver, when Eddie spazzed out on those people near the front for not rocking out to Ole.

They busted it out a few times and then seemed to discard it. I can't recall seeing it on any setlist for a long time. They probably had a team meeting and said, "Guys... let's just be honest with ourselves. Is Ole a groovy tune or not?"

I dig it. And I don't think there is any filler at all on Vitalogy (or any other PJ album for that matter).

honestly, Foxy Mop and Pry, To and the other "experimental songs" aren't filler. same with Writer's Block and everything else. They are creative expressions of how the band were feeling at the time. sometimes they seem like a "bridge" from one song to the next. I don't ever skip them like I skip Future Days or Sirens.

  • I don't like Grievance or Breakerfall, among others.  Nonetheless I like an incredibly high percentage of the catalog.

they've had worst songs.  most of Binaural felt off kilter to me.  the band was just not playing playing well on the album imo.

I don’t get the hate for The End. I really don’t. I think it’s a beautiful tune. Heartbreaking lyrically, actually. Maybe it’s a better Ed solo song, but it’s still a good song.
Too melodramatic and cliche.  I'm not there yet either.  Gonna live forever....

No, but I'll agree that Future Days is most probably bad as well.  I tried really hard to like Lightening Bolt......but I couldn't.  Tabled that whole album a few months after it was released so, I really can't name most of the tracks.  And while I'm here, my least favorites are Just Breathe, The End, Sirens and most of LB (save Pendulum).  Not gonna say they are their worst songs but, I am super tired of side 1 of Ten.  Experimental songs are rad....

Agree on experiments. LB actually has a couple. Its above backspacer for me at the back end of the catalog. LB is generally fine for me...couple high spots (infallible, pendulum), many decent songs, and then future days...

yeah, if LB were an 8 or 9 song EP, it would have been a home run.

I would say that Infallible was different.  Kind of like You Are on Riot Act.  Pendulum would fall under the different category to me.
