I watched Sherrybaby the other day - good but sort of rambling.  And intense, as well-done addiction films tend to be.

Gyllenhall is an incredible actress too; I have The Kindergarten Teacher in my queue.

And whomever mentioned Suburbicon blowing?  Agreed!  It lost me about ten minutes in.

Watched Dogtown and Z-Boys again.  Was inspired after watching Momentum Generation on HBO.  I find documentaries that chronicle a major shift in a culture fascinating, especially when we so quickly take those shifts for granted.

That's funny. I've fallen asleep to a few movies and the only one I ever rewatched was the Village because I woke up near the end and was like wtf is going on. Other recents I fell asleep during were Bridesmaids at home and Paul Blart 2 in the theatre reclining seats.

Edit: should movies we've fallen asleep to be a new thread?

Momentum Generation was very well done.

    Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Do yourself a favor, go see it this weekend on the biggest possible screen, before Aquaman kicks it off the biggest screens in a few days.

    The House That Jack Built

It's excellent. But absolutely, 100% not for those who are more easily disturbed. Or, rather, it's for those who don't get disturbed by much in movies. It's pretty harcore and fucked up. So beware.
But if you can handle it, holy cow, it's so so good. A truly unique and creative serial killer movie - much more a drama than a horror, as gruesome as it is. It is very long too, so not good for people who don't like long movies. 2.5 hours.

The Messenger (2009) - Been on a Ben Foster binge lately and catching up on a few that I haven't seen. I really liked this and though  all the leads were great, especially Woody Harrelson

    The Mule

    was ok at best

seemed like Clint was just doing the same old thing over & over & over again
  • The Firm. Seen it multiple times and love the book, so it was fun to revisit. Every time it annoys me how much detail had to be left out of the movie. And its already 2 1/2 hours!

Made the mistake of thinking Woody Allen was funny, girlfriend and I both slept through it in theater.
