Front office won't go for him. Yanks need pitching. They're stacked for batting for a few years. What they need is a few guys like Gardner that can get on base and steal one but that brand of baseball is going too...Cliffy6745 said:

And I completely agree that they need an ace. I just don't know where that comes from without getting rid of Andujar or Torres.0

We discussed this before, I would try for DeGrom. I would even try for the Rays' Blake Snell.0 -
Dallas Keuchel is the top current free agent list and Clayton Kershaw is definitely going to opt out and try to get a better multi-year dealtempo_n_groove said:

Now with Didi out for 2019 the Yankees might try harder for Machado, but Hechavarria can fill the gap as long as they sign a big bat or Sanchez can regain his stroke.
I know the outfield is crowded but Bryce Harper has said he was willing to play first base and with that left bat at Yankee Stadium I can only imagine the bombs that will heading into the short right field bleachers. I know Voit was stellar in September, but he's still unproven for the most part.

Yanks aren't getting Snell unless they insanely overpay. DeGrom would be an overpay too and would start with Andujar, if they're lucky. I think they should do that, but it also leaves a gaping hole in the lineup (infield), especially with Didi out. Manny fits that bill.tempo_n_groove said:

Kershaw has 3 years and $98 mil left. If he leaves the Dodgers its for at least 5 years, right? That is a god awful contract and one the Yankees need to avoid.madhat181 said:

No thanks on Keuchel. Corbin might as well already be working out in Tampa. That is good as done, right? So you have Severino, Tanaka, Corbin. Sign CC for the 5 spot. Then you either trade depth for an ace or go the Happ route.
Manny vs. Harper. I can't see the Yanks signing Harper, outside of the fact that this lineup is missing on thing...lefties. Manny fits the infield hole a lot more.
Gonna be interesting. This team has to go big with Boston on the verge of the dance after knocking them out.

I do wonder what the Nationals are going to do if Harper jumps ship? Do they unload Scherzer and Strasburg?
If the Yanks can't get a legit #1 then they just reinforce the bullpen more and expect 2-3 innings out of a starter in the playoffs considering that's how the game is played now...
The Yanks have a very, very good farm team and can let some of that go for a great starter.
Many teams wish they had the Yankees' problems right now.

I am not disagreeing with you a little bit. I get the trades for DeGrom and Snell and when I say overpay, I mean in terms of players. Think Andjuar/Torres, Florial, Shef and Abreu/Ace. That may not even get it done, but yeah, my trade proposal sucks. I just don't see the Rays dealing a player within the division, especially Yanks, unless it is an offer they can't refuse. Yanks are in an amazing position that they have a young core in the big leagues graduating all those players and still have a top 10 farm.tempo_n_groove said:

Tons of teams do with they were the Yanks. Yanks are in an amazing position. Core young players including a top 10 player in the game. Stacked farm, and finally have financial flexibility. They should go on an amazing run here. There are no excuses. They have to get this offseason right though.

I think the Yankees try for Machado. Harper can still leave Washington. His replacement is there. They took a big step back this year with 3 top starters. But I would take Machado over Harper. I don't think Stanton is getting traded. He actually has it good here with the DH situation. And can play OF from time to time. I don't know if Corbin will make much difference. Arizona lost the division with him and Greinke.I miss igotid880

I have become less and less enthused with the concept of signing machado throughout the playoffs. Kinda want them to go Harper at this point, even though I have been against it for so long
