Honestly, that’s basically what the ER doc would do, though obviously with sterile equipment. If I had the same issue and I had a way to deal with it at home in 10 seconds instead of waiting in the ER, I would, because those bleeds trapped under the nail are incredibly painful.
Yeah, I'd be at the ER. I've seen way too many infections in people who try to do shit like that at home. It's generally a good rule to not do what doctors strongly recommend you never do yourself, lol.

Ehh, I’ve seen doctors tell people that they can do this themselves. It’s really pretty simple

Yesterday, while stacking books in the store room, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my arm like being stabbed by a burning hot needle.  MOTHERF**CKER!  I knew right away what it was- same thing happened only to my hand almost exactly a year ago.  Wasp!  I've had bee stings and paper wasp stings, but whatever these suckers are behind the bookstore, they have one nasty fucking stinger.  24 hours later my arm is becoming more swollen- about 2" across with a 1/2 inch high welt.  And the worst of it is, I knew the sucker will burn and itch for several days and will take a few weeks to a month to totally heal.  It's on my right arm so I can seem to get a good picture but it looks UGLY.  Sucker's driving me nuts!

Oooooh, yuck, I feel for you Brian!

Last year I got stung while in a restaurant INSIDE having brunch with my parents. That really put the damper on my meal, and yes, it was freaking sore for days and would still periodically swell for weeks after, seemingly randomly.

This is the best I could do (Weird angle of photo- taken with left hand, right arm twisted to show under side where the sting is).  This is hours later this evening around midnight.

Okay, I don't have the bloody gash that our Rob would have, but I did fall up a step at a concert tonight. I am not broken, but sweet love-- instant bruises on both legs. I landed so hard on my right kneecap that my daughter jumped up to scoop me up. I popped up like a pop tart, flared arms and a smile on my face, but later I whispered to K, "If I was home, I would cry." I'm not a big injury crier.

Adding insult to injury, our row had to go on 14,000 beer and pee runs, so I had to keep using that freaking step I fell on every time we had to move.

Perhaps I can give bruise photos tomorrow. I was too busy eating Advil and strapping ice to my leg to take photos. Here's hoping that my leg will bend in the morning.

And...my kid fell up a concrete step right after I did. She is also icing her knee.

Big fun at House of DeadEndP tonight! :weary:

Just road rash. The separated shoulder is much worse, but it’s not as gory.

Waiting for discharge instructions from the hospital.
