Too many covers? London bootleg arrived today, 3 covers in a 3 hour set, 30+ songs. I am more than happy with that ratio. Being a metal head, I have seen bands like Marilyn Manson play a 45 minute set at festivals and still put 2 or 3 covers in. Now thats inexcusable.
Some of MMs biggest hits are covers though. So that changes the nature of it a bit.

Not an unpopular opinion, but I thought this thread would be way more contentious by page 5.

I know but that to me shows a weak set list. Same as Metallica, last time I saw them around 10 years ago they were still playing songs Dave Mustaine wrote live.

You may not like his persona, arrogance, or politics, but to say Bono sucks is ignorant. Seen U2 live many times since 1985 and although now their age shows 100x more than PJ's, U2's catalog, music, lyrics and most definitely live shows were epic. From the stripped down stage and sound of The Unforgettable Fire tour to ZOO TV; which was, for its time, absolutely mind-blowing, they made their shows events. Thought Ed's nod to Bono was pure class.  How do you shit on a person who has literally raised hundreds of millions of dollars for AIDS treatment, 3rd world hunger and disease?  Thought PJ fans had compassion for other humans.  Seems like after the Apple debacle, shitting on U2 became this cool trend.

At the top of their game, being one of 10k fans singing '40' in the streets an hour after the house lights went on/stopping traffic moved you... sent chills thru your core.

If you think this sucks, well..I just don't think you have an open mind to music in general.

I don't like requests for songs live in relation to someone sick or dead.  "Please play ... For ..."

There could potentially be thousands at a show going through something, some form of grief. I know people grieve and find comfort in different ways but requests just makes me uncomfortable.

Stickers, patches, dad hats, zippos, koozies, all apparel, dog collars, bags, trading cards, etc are lame, but posters are cool . . . pretty much all merch is lame, except posters . . .

I'd probably be on board with Funko Pops of the band though or offical Lego or OYO minifigures

Using any of the following phrases is really really lame:
    1. Uncle Neil (you aren’t in the band and he isn’t your uncle.)
    2. Jamily
    3. It doesn’t get “Eddie Vedder” than this. (No, no and no.)
    May I add one...it's a Benaroya Hall  .... not a Benny!!!
I'll add to this as well:
It's EBAY.  Not "the bay."  Not "the auction site."  Not "that site that can't be named."  It has never been against the rules to type the word "ebay" when referring to ebay.

Most has already been said, but...
I love the hits. Betterman is a fun song.
Would much rather hear Betterman or EVenflow that than some weird obscure song just to cross it off my list. Most of Lost Dogs I don't like with a few exceptions.
Will never get tired of Y-Led. In fact it is my favorite PJ song.
Why is eBay evil? There is nothing wrong with selling items on eBay, why should someone not get top dollar? (items recently purchased may be different, I understand the frustration seeing items just sold being flipped a day later, but everything else is fair game).

Get in line earlier if you want to pay original price.  Buy an airplane ticket and fly to Buenos Aires if you wanted to pay $2 for the show sticker instead of $10.  Ebay is fine.

The whole concept of a "Rock n Roll Hall of Fame" is pathetically lame and whether somone is 'in it or not means nothing to me whatsoever. I'm embarrassed for them that Pearl Jam agreed to it. The only thing that could match that for commercialised, kitsch, embarrassing lameness would be a Super Bowl halftime show, so please don't ever do that Pearl Jam.
I thought it would of been amazing if they stuck up for Dave A. and boycotted their own induction as a result :)

Greatest hits show >>>> sloppy show trying to remember chords and lyrics to rare songs

ive seen a lot of shows that would satisfy setlist checklist people but i still rank something like 4/28/03 Spectrum over all of them.

I agree. I don't have a problem with that. I guess I was thinking items sold through 10c listed as "not for resale" then are listed on ebay before it even ships are annoying, everything else is fair game.

Disagree. I have heard Otherside twice already and would love to hear it again at my next show. I know plenty of others feel the same with me. Same with Fatal. Heard it once already and would love to hear it again.

    "He has literally raised millions".

The truth is he has gave hardly any of his fortune to charity, he has asked working class people to reach into their pockets instead when they can ill afford to in today's climate.  He has become an even wealthier man due to his "humanitarian" efforts.  The band moved all €400million of their earnings out of Ireland to avoid paying tax too, and while I can't fault him for playing the system he has a cheek asking people to help the less fortunate when he's moving money around to avoid doing it himself.

    Fuck Bono, santamonious cunt.

    - Despite enjoying, via PJ Radio, live PJ shows and random live tunes I very rarely/almost never listen to PJ bootlegs via digital/CD/vinyl formats
    - I'm stingy with revisiting the old albums (which at 5+ years since LB they're all old albums IMO) so as not to wear the treads off the tires
    - Johnny Guitar rocks as does Lightning Bolt (album) :rock_on:
    - Force of Nature is on my list of least favorite PJ tunes (there's not actually a list but if there was it'd be a short one and also include Evacuation )
    - Ames Bros' '18 Lisbon poster is badass
    - Proper shows in Nashville, Atlanta, and New Orleans are a decade+ overdue. Oh, wait, wrong thread

Hard to argue against this. U2 did make some incredible music though.

I do have to wonder if anyone actually knows how much bono has given to charity himself......its always better when a celebrity doesnt publicize their personal charitable donations

I am not looking at anyone's bank records and I fully understand there were issues about where u2 band members kept their money and all sorts of debatable rationale as to why.  But at the end of the day no one had a gun to their head to donate money on a rock and roll singers behest.  So his shortcomings not withstanding, it is a step too far for me  to say he has not created a net positive for human beings in need.
