While I tend to agree to some degree, the Bush Administration took the lid off of pandora’s Box with the acquiescence of Congress while Obama literally had his hands tied by, “our number one priority is to see this president fail.” Does it make what Obama did right? I’m not sure in the sense that there are degrees and context for everything and nothing is black and white. What I see now is a desire to expand executive power to a singular mean, to protect a president from an ongoing investigation where he may or may not be a target of the ongoing investigation by appointing a clearly partisan SCJ who has expressed his view that the executive’s powers are so sweeping as to reign supreme. Obama may have interpreted his executive power in a certain way but he certainly didn’t try to stack the court to prevent his expansion from being challenged or even the legitimacy of what he was doing. Big difference. And again, the repubs weaken our civil liberties, using 9/11 as the pretext and the libs get blamed and tarred and feathered with it.
