Another one of my favorites as a kid. Loved his swing.
And, yes, he was better than Donnie overall. Donnie was better defensively. Both great players though.

he was about 2 inches taller and about 20lbs heavier than Donnie. Definitely had more power. But I think if not for his back Mattingly would have had a similar amount of homeruns

Barraclough sucks. Went from possible trade bait to get something good back to trash

Bochy has an under .500 career managing record. But will get into the HOF because of the 3 World Series championships. 79 wins to 2000

if you manage the padres for a long time, you’re gonna be under .500.

I don’t think anyone should go into the hall as a manager.

Even if the Marlins were swept this weekend. They would have ended the season with 99 losses as the makeup game on Monday was cancelled

Lose another good player in Realmuto. To a division rival no less. Mattingly's final year in his contract.

I think they got a great return from trading a damn catcher.  This was an A+ move for the Fish.

They have no team for this year...silly to hold on to something that you know you only have for 2 years vs. the potential of a SP prospect like that.

Obviously, I just want Mattingly to have a managing job after this year.

the marlins have traded 23 of their best 25 players.....fernandez died and they couldn’t get rid of burnett. they ought to be contracted.

If you want your boy to succeed, wouldn't this be a good thing? He'll never win with the Marlins.

I despise the fact that they have two titles in the last 25 years. What a fraud organization.

Not many teams are going to be hiring old school type managers. Even if they agree to adapt to analytics they'll just hire someone with no managing experience and get orders from above. It's worked with the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Astros.
Also they're changing the culture and getting younger and who knows if these guys end up being really good and someone else gets to benefit from it like Roberts in L.A. or Torre with the Yankees
