Cole Hamels can keep proving me dead wrong all he wants. He’s the ace of the team now. Lester has like a fucking 32.00 era in his last 5 starts. Hendricks better in his last few starts. Hamels has, so far, been about as dominant as a pitcher can be. Looks like the change of scenery and the playoff race has worn well on him. If Darvish can come back and be the pitcher he can be, we're going to be looking solid. I always expect certain ruts like this for Lester. If you think about it, we should be incredibly positive. The starting staff has stunk, sans Lester's first half, Montgomery at times, and now Hamels. Bryant has been, by his standards, pretty much a no-show even when out on the field. Rizzo is batting leadoff. If you told me at the beginning of the year that Javy would be carrying this team, Bryant injured for a significant time, Yu not living up to a quarter of potential, Chatwood with more walks than innings, we lost our closer around the midpoint, and Almora and some guy named David Bote lead the team in hitting - AND we still have the best record in the NL - I wouldn't have believed that.
