Just watched the Made of Stone (Stone Roses) and Supersonic (Oasis) documentaries on Amazon Prime. Great stuff...forgot how many good bands from England came around the time. If I had to pick my favorite I'd go with Suede. Love Oasis and The Verve too, but Suede just killed IMO.

    Of the ones listed, I’d probably say The Verve. However, I’d put them all behind Manic Street Preachers.

    Yeah, I guessed that may be the song that tempo was referring to. Richard Ashcroft wrote the lyrics and music and they had negotiated to use a short sample of the strings from The Last Time. Then came the lawsuit and Jagger/Richards claiming songwriting credits and 100% of the royalties.
    It’s still a Verve song, it just uses a short sample of another song.

    Amazing how the Stone Roses can sell-out 4 shows at the Etihad in Manchester, yet they can't really draw too many people outside the UK/Europe.

    Yes that is the song.  I didn't care for that one.

    Never really heard anything from them here in the states after that.  Maybe they are good but I never heard them.
