This is one of the main problems with people walking around with guns in America. What would almost certainly have been a regular old scuffle or fist fight between a couple of bone heads over a parking space in any other Western nation turned into a shooting death.

Yep.  And then we have people defending why it's "okay."

Stand Your Ground is working exactly as it was intended to.  To exactly what it was intended to do it to. For exactly who it was intended for.

And now, if you're black in Florida, you have to be aware that someone might try to start something with just so they can shoot you.

I only saw the clip for the first time this morning. I think he was an older guy. He shouldn’t be expected to stand up and shove back.
Im glad he said something about the parking space. There were plenty of non handicapped spaces and she should have been called out, he shouldn’t have to mind his own business. Now how he confronted her I don’t know, but I haven’t read anything that suggests it was threatening.
I’m not saying he should have shot him. Just that I could believe him that he was in fear for his life. And really that’s all that matters in this case. An older man like he was would have just gotten beaten for getting up. He did not just push him down and walk away, the video clearly shows him continuing to approach while he was on the ground. I’m not convinced the guy wasn’t planning on beating him some more on the ground.
Even if you want to argue the he felt "threatened" claim, watch the video again and see where the victim's hands are and then what happens as the other guy starts to draw a gun. The victim immediately starts backing away when he sees what the man is doing and a bystander in the background gets the hell out of the way. The only way this could be worse is if the victim had actually turned around. If this man was in fear, than he should be confined to his house for life. It's reckless use and murder.
    It's a hopeless situation...

    How about this option....

Get up, turn around, walk away

    ??

So many options. None used because this idiot was not backing down given he was carrying a testosterone injector.

Poor little guy. Got tough with a lady. A man shoved him to the ground as if he was a toddler... but look who had the last laugh.

    Pathetic excuse for a man.

And your hero acting "responsible." Are you now going to march around in public with several of your AR15s slung over your shoulder to show your pride and solidarity? Or will you not answer because, well, its too personal?

Let me be honest with you open carry folks....

When you have a gun strapped to your hip, in public, as a civilian, the rest of us all think you look like a moron. Just being honest

I was out at breakfast with my 67 year old mother... and some 23 year old had a gun strapped to his belt like he was the goofball version of John Wayne... do we really need assholes with guns strapped to their hip at Bob Evan's on a Sunday when I'm at breakfast with my mother?

Why are you guys so scared?

I have never open carried, but I just wanted to say that there are plenty of things people wear/do out in public that make them look like morons...And this is probably a geographical thing.  Here in TX, no one thinks twice if they see someone carrying a firearm.  That being said, I really don’t run across too many people open carrying, but I assume that all of us are around several people conceal carrying on a daily basis.
I have no problem with people exercising what numerous courts now hold as a personal right.

Because those moronic rights open the door for awful behaviour that results in people getting hurt and dying.

I agree with My2hands... guys walking around with their guns in public are fools. And if I can be honest... to me it seems as if they are supplementing character weaknesses like confidence and strength.

One way or another... they're weak. Pure and simple.

What about gals walking around with their guns in public?  Firearm ownership among women is pretty damn high.
So because they are weak, they should not be granted a way of protecting themselves?

Same opinion with one caveat: women are repeatedly the victims of men. Some of them are stalked or have some f**king loser in their past that is unstable and in possession of a 100 guns... sooo... I get where they are at.

Males are the problem here- especially the ones trying to make up a few inches by lookin' tuff with a big gun.

What about the woman with a stalker that gets a new boyfriend?  Could that boyfriend not make a case for being in danger?  Are you picking on the weak?  What about the elderly or disabled?
Regardless, weak or not, these rights have been granted to them and they really don’t have to explain why they are exercising that right (whether they are compensating for something, are women, are weak, or are just concerned about the rising violence in their area).  To just say someone is “weak” is a pretty “weak” argument.

Because people fucking die over this stupid ass "right."  Over trivial fucking matters.  Last thing I need is to fear going in public because I bumped into some asshole with an ego 100 times the size of his cock and he feels the need to shoot the fuck away at me because it's his raaht to bear awrmz.

Stop hiding behind the skirt of "It's my right."  This is not what the founding fathers envisioned, and you know it!  But go ahead, if it makes you feel like more of a man to have your sidearm strapped to you. By all fucking means bro, carry away. Just make sure the piece you carry is bigger than your dick.
