The whole Scientology thing does make me think he's a robot, though. Not that this would make his movies better or worse. The love he receives is the love that is saved0

He's also been in a few really good kind of futuristic action films recently, like Oblivion and another one I can't remember the name of. And don't forget about Minority Report. That's a great movie IMO. I also love War of the Worlds.F Me In The Brain said:I really like his older movies - I think the last one I loved was The Last Samurai.
Recent?
Mostly I cannot stomach them. I guess Ghost Protocol wasn't too bad but that was a while ago. He was great in Tropic Thunder but that was a small part.

Oh, he's a complete fucking nutbar, lol. But yeah, I don't care about that when I'm watching his movies. He's a really good actor who chooses really good roles in really entertaining movies!F Me In The Brain said:The whole Scientology thing does make me think he's a robot, though. I like sci-fi but didn't enjoy any of those. That is ok, why they make so many.PJ_Soul said:

I think we lost Tom Cruise right around Jerry Maguire. And so you see, I have come to doubt

Eyes Wide Shut is good. Magnolia is good. And actually, Jerry Maguire is not exactly bad for sentimental pap.
I can't think of any of his other work that I would ever suggest watching, though.
I SAW PEARL JAM0 -
The new Mummy sucked.... although I don't think it sucked because of Tom Cruise. It was just a shitty story line/screenplay.

I really dug Oblivion. And I've watched MR several times. Never get tired of that one.PJ_Soul said:

I know I’ve seen at least one MI movie, but I’ll be damned if I can remember a single thing about it, including Tom Cruise’s performance.I SAW PEARL JAM0

Way over-due seeing "Lucky". Oh man... Harry Dean Stanton- one of the very best. I'm kind of left with words on this one. Just great.

This movie SO Harry Dean it's amazing. And he died before the final film was finished which, having seen the movie, is not all that surprising. I'm such a HDS, so found it very, very moving. And real as the day is long. Loved this one.Pap said:^ Interesting plot...
