What most don’t seem to realize is that folks like Team Trump Treason are considered total shit bags by honorable public servants and ex marines like Team Mueller.

I know this is a concern amoung many, but I am not sure I'm quite clear on what people have in mind exactly. Can you or someone explain what exactly you fear there, that would be worse than what's going on with him in office?benjs said:
And from my perspective, I'm seriously fearful of what would happen to the state of your country if he is impeached. Right now, you have a divided nation with a leader who's successfully convinced a good percentage of the civilians that the 'other side' is out to get him - I don't see it ending well if they do 'get him'. I fear the ugliness hasn't come close to its peak yet.Kat said:It can't come soon enough for me...or the country.

Absolutely. I fear that those that cling to justifying intolerance, to the refusal of logical debate when inconvenient, those that excuse unethical treatment of humans when it aligns with their own (im)moral compasses, those that have a history of violence when unfavourable decisions are made, and/or mob mentality will run rampant. Where governments can abuse with policy, I am fearful that unhappy citizens (who already feel that the world is unduly owned by 'libs') will violently revolt when they inevitably see Trump's impeachment as further proof of that corruption.PJ_Soul said:

Of course, this is a gut sense, but I think it aligns with the characteristics of some unsavoury group we've seen so far. Several formerly weak or weakening groups forced to the fringes of society all have acceptance in the eyes of Trump: white supremacists, religiously-fueled anti-abortionists, gun advocates who equate the rejection of Conservatism with a mission to seize all firearms.. there are enough groups that put hatred for others above their own well-being, and they are all uniquely validated in their missions by Trump. What happens when that validating force is unwillingly removed from power?

The guy isn’t getting impeached, so we’re just going to have to put up with the rest of his term. And, if the think-like-me-or-else-you’re-a-nazi crowd doesn’t watch it, it will be two terms.

his approval rating is actually not terrible, from an article I recently read on CNN. and it all depends on the economy and what happens with the SCOTUS, and the biggie, HIS OPPONENT. if he enrages enough liberals to vote, it could be a landslide. if he appoints a moderate, it could be tough.Go Beavers said:

Hugh--what's your definition of "not terrible?" It is literally historically low. As of this morning, according to 538, there has never been a president with a lower overall approval than Trump at this point into their first term....like, ever...in this history of polling:

I wish I could find the article again, but it said his overall approval right now was in the low 40's. maybe the comparison being made in the article wasn't accurate. I thought Obama was always hovering around the low to mid 40's. but now looking at the link you posted that is obviously not true. The Juggler said:^

To me the thing that really illustrates how low his numbers are is that he's still coasting off of Obama's economy. You mentioned the economy earlier. Usually if the economy is good, the approvals are over 50%. Imagine how much lower he will go once the correction happens (especially if it's sped up by his dumb trade war).Looks like Obama dipped to 44%ish right before the 2010 midterms when the tea party erupted. Trump hasn't been that high since his first month or so and his numbers are going down again.

That's right. Sadly, at the end of the day, I think the majority of Americans really only care about money and/or how comfortable they are personally. If they are personally comfortable and don't personally feel economically threatened come election time, they will let all other issues fade to the backs of their minds and vote Trump, and then make excuses later.HughFreakingDillon said:

Oh, oh? Seems some really, really big dots are going to be connected. Probably negotiating witness protection for his wife and kids. I wonder if he’s got a copy of the PTAPE?

H2TM, I don't have much faith this will happen, but I do have high hopes. Nothing would make me happier than to have been wrong this whole time, and to see him go down in flames over this. I still do have concerns over what I think will be a socially ugly aftermath - but we're in the socially ugly midst of it right now, anyways.Halifax2TheMax said:Oh, oh?
