Man, I would feel like an absolute tool standing there in line with 30+ posters.

It’s not hard. I booked tickets to a gig the other day and was offered to buy the artists new album. How hard can it be?
also, stop the poster reveals before the gig. The only reason they sell out is because scalpers watch the channels and get a feel for desirability. Adds some mystery as well
I’m going to London 2.5 and am already anxious about the poster situation. I’ve got posters for every PJ I’ve been to except Hammersmith last year and it simply isn’t ‘fair’ that having to go to work that day could cost me the opportunity to own a momento of the day. We got lucky at London 1, partly I expect because it wasn’t a ‘must have’ print but still stood in the queue panicking that they’d all gone.

Am I the only one disappointed that the stickers just follow a template and aren’t unique?0

The art on these other posters is fantastic - don't get me wrong - they just don't seem like show/gig posters to me anymore. They're too creative, too detailed, too colorful. They're art illustrations with words slapped on them. The band names and dates and places seem so out of place on the prints. But I guess that's the direction the industry has evolved.Post edited by HesCalledDyer onStar Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250 -

im all for selling used products on Lost Dogs for the going rate but taking away the opportunity for fans in line to buy their $35 poster so you can flip it for 10x the amount is pretty rotten. Maybe there’s too fine of a line in that statement but i dont think so.Athens 2006. Dusseldorf 2007. Berlin 2009. Venice 2010. Amsterdam 1 2012. Amsterdam 1+2 2014. Buenos Aires 2015.
Prague Krakow Berlin 2018. Berlin 2022
EV, Taormina 1+2 2017.
I wish i was the souvenir you kept your house key on..0 -
Really not a fan of the waffles, in fact i think they suck, but its hard to knock people for doing it when you see the demand and the stampede to take part. Its insane, and dumb imo, but its only getting more popular.
The flipping aspect of the merch is absolutely no different now to how it was in 2008 and 2010 and 2012 etc, its always been there and the whole concept of limited appeal and the hype machine keeps the goods in demand. People see the flipping opportunity, they take it and that fuels the next cycle.
I would be surprised if the band moved to stop this, as the whole demand and insanity around buying this stuff is what makes Pearl Jam stuff so collectible and popular.0 -

PJ_Soul said:You are totally right, but unfortunately that's a futile request. While some won't provide income to these people (I sure won't), there is no way in hell that these fucking flippers aren't going to find plenty of fans who don't give a shit about anything besides getting what they want.
i ONLY go to ebay now to buy my posters that i want/need. paid 2.5times the list price for telluride and was happy with the purchase!!
i don't mind paying anyone to wait 2+ hours in a line to get me a poster, one that gets delivered to my home with zero hassles a week after the show! especially in a place as beautiful as telluride. 2+ hours in a line up for a poster...no thanks!!
morally it's wrong but so is the way PJ handle merch/posters for real fans who go to the shows...so i don't care anymore
right now i'm looking for seattle 2018 stickers and will pay 3 times face value...anyone want to get me one/two please PM me!!0 -

And also the curse of lugging a poster around a show... if not, additional time transporting the poster to a hotel and/or a car.
As far as everything else, I'm pretty much checked out. I don't feel like my style is concert or band tees or hoodies any longer. Stickers I like, but I dont need to froth at the mouth for concert ones. Plenty of cool stickers come from many sources. Zippos, wallets, any miscellaneous items, I am completely immune to at this point.
I like to have a poster from each show I go to, and also (occasionally) spot a must-have (like "the catch"). Im not joining that frenzy at the show merch stand unless Im johnny on the spot.0 -

But I do not agree with the flipper who's buying 20 posters. That's taking it to far.

For a band that took ticketmaster to task over inflated charges for "real music fans" this all seems like a massive F'ck you. If I want a poster, to a gig I paid to see, I shouldn't have any trouble getting one.

What a mess that was. It's the last time anything made was "limited". Those hats and posters were limited.0
