Tomorrow a few friends of Thomas will get together for a night of beers, darts and music, which pretty much represents a typical night at Thomas' place..! I've had a trophy made for our dart tournament.. One that will be up for grabs every once in a while, when the "gang" gets together.. That way Thomas can continue to be the glue that keeps us all together! Thomas' nickname was BILLE, so the tournament will be called the BILLE CUP..!

This is so awesome. I'm really hoping you get this song and it would be awesome for the band to mention Thomas.
Whenever I heard this song after my grandfather passed away I always though of him. Hearing it live at Wrigley 16 was my first time and I couldn't hold back the tears. It was a wonderful night after two great shows and it made it so much better. I still tear up a bit when I listen to the boot. It's something i'll never forget.

It's funny how a song can become much more meaningful just like that..! Man of the Hour will forever remind me of Thomas after playing it for him in church.. I told my 4 year old that Thomas is now a star in the sky.. I chose one from the big dipper so I could always find it for her.. And somehow that star is him for me as well now Thank you for the help in making this thing happen!

I recently watched Big Fish for the first time in about 10 years. It really is a gem of a movie, and Pearl Jam provided the perfect song to close it out. In those 10 years between viewings of the movie, there was some death in my family which unfortunately gave the movie a whole new meaning. That gave me the idea of putting a request up in the forum for the boys to play Man of the Hour in Amsterdam or Berlin.
However, PearlGooner has provided ample reason why it should be Krakow. Condolences on your loss, and I really hope the boys play it for Thomas in Krakow.
This is very much appreciated! I'm sorry for your loss a well! It is indeed a very strong movie and man of the hour is such a well written song!
Thank you very much for your kind words too. Your original post inspired a journey, and emptied a bank account Even if the boys don't play MotH, I hope you have a really positive experience in Krakow as part of the healing process.
BUMP!
So, as it turns out I didn't have to book a trip to Krakow, they actually played it in Amsterdam
Seriously though, the moment they played it I thought of this thread and how the chances of it happening in Krakow just got better. Man of the Hour is off the shelf, dusted off, sounding beautiful and in the tour repertoire.

I relate to and respect your loss. As I said earlier in this thread, I recently watched Big Fish for the first time in 10+ years and in that time I had experienced loss. Specifically, that loss was my grandfather who I lived with for the first 12 years of my life. The tears did start to flow on that recent viewing of Big Fish, and also Man of the Hour took on a whole new meaning since his death.
Similar to you, the first time I heard the song live since my grandfather passed was last week in Amsterdam and it was a powerful feeling. It really is a magnificent song of both celebration and remembrance. From the photos and posts PearlGooner is making in this thread, it really seems like the perfect song for the memory of Thomas in Krakow.
I couldn't hold my tears in Amsterdam thinking the loss of one of my best friends 40 days ago. Now it's time to be played in memory of Thomas in Krakow. All the way up. For all our missed ones.
