I'll be watching, WC is always great. Not sure who I'll pull for with the US not qualifying.
Yep.  Once the WC starts it's really going to set in how fucking awful it is that the US isn't there.  But that's a different convo for another thread.  I'm mostly of Irish descent and they didn't qualify either so I really have no one to root for.  One of my really good friends was born in Poland and is a huge soccer fan so I may jump on the bandwagon with him....mostly just so I can go out drinking and watch the games.

FIFA 18 has a cool world cup mode just added. To the ultimate team section
Yes, but from what I have read, it falls well short of the previous stand alone releases that give the full qualifying experience, hundreds of nations' teams, WC atmosphere and interface, etc.  Thats disappointing.

Note to all media attending the Russia World Cup ... book hotel rooms on first floor only.  Do not criticize mr Putin.  Avoid balconies that may become “slippery”

also avoid going into dark wooded areas where team supported death matches occur.

Well, my homeland (Wales) never qualify so I'll be throwing my support behind the green and gold of my adopted country. I'm hoping for one more piece of Tim Cahill magic in his final tournament :)

I think Belgium or Argentina will win it.

Wales will win the 2022 World Cup. You laughed at it here first folks...

It's a shame that a player as good as Bale may never play in a World Cup.  Although that run Wales had in Euro 2016 was pretty great...

Yeah man, this really sucks.  I threw some action down on Belgium so they are my team for the next few weeks.

I started following Germany in the late 70's and still do. But will also throw my support behind Sweden (50% Swedish), and Croatia (father-in-law fled Yugoslavia). So I've got a few teams I'll be following and supporting.  Looking forward to the tournament. Glad that we already have the disappointment with the USMNT performance out of the way. lol.

I can usually stay pretty neutral (if Wales aren't playing!) so I tend to support different players depending on which team is playing. As a Chelsea fan, I'll support Belgium for Hazard, France if Kante is playing, Spain for Dave etc. Also if I have a particular link or fond memory for a place (we got engaged in Iceland; I spent time time travelling in Peru etc). Being a neutral is fun!

Interesting tactics from the Spanish team - they’ve sacked their coach 2 days before their first game! That’ll take the opposition by surprise!
