    US Olympic committee calls on entire USA gymnastics board to resign after assault scandal

    "The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) is now calling for every member of the USA Gymnastics board to resign by the end of the month, as a fresh start for the organization after a sexual assault scandal involving one of its former doctors. 

    Scott Blackmun, CEO of the USOC, sent an email to the USA Gymnastics (USAG) board Thursday saying it would lose its status as the nation's governing organization for gymnastics unless each member resigned by Jan. 31, according to USA Today. 

    The USOC will also decertify the organization if it does not put an interim board in place by Feb. 28, Blackmun said in the email. "

    There are places in Asia where women are second class citizens all the way. In India and Singapore a husband is still allowed by law to rape his wife as long as she's older than 13 years old. so I'd say it's pretty likely that Asia has some issues with equal pay too, lol. In Russia, women are forbidden from working in “hard, dangerous and/or unhealthy trades", which includes stuff like driving trains and firefighting, and in China women aren't allowed to work in mines or do any of the "hard" physical labour jobs. In Malta men are still allowed to abduct a woman, force her to marry him, and then be free from persecution. So yeah, from our view, the US and Canada aren't doing well with pay equity... but we're also doing a hell of a lot better with female equality than plenty of places in Europe and Asia.
    I was thinking more about the politicos, entertainment industry and business leaders than society as a whole. I’m well aware of how women are treated in different countries and cultures. Is there something uniquely American about males with power and their abuse thereof?
    I don't think so. Males with power abuse that power all over the world. Are there places that do better with this than America? Yes, but not many.

    Shit, I wonder what that means for the students and faculty and staff at MSU? That's a lot of money. How's the compensation being funded I wonder? (no, I'm not suggesting the settlement isn't fair or anything like that)

    MSU is self funding and will then sue their insurance companies to get the the money back.
