Was going to comment on that. Does that mean JC doesn't believe that Nassar's conviction was valid? He was convicted. These victims are speaking at his sentencing hearing.

BTW - just in - Judge sentenced that asshole to "up to 175 years". The judge told him "I signed your death warrant."

I only used alleged because the number he was tried on and convicted is 150 and the number of statements reached around 190.
"Decades of abuse" more than 150 kids! What took so long? In any event its a good thing these types of abuses over decades is limited to a few priests, a few coaches, a hollywood exec or two and the random politician.

The Nasser thing should be getting big headlines.  There was an entire culture, both at USGA and MSU, of indifference and putting reputation first over basic human decency.  We've seen it in the catholic church, Penn State, Baylor etc. and I'm sure it's exits and endless public, private, and non-profit organizations.  How can the culture of enabling be overcome?

Burn it down. Burn it all down. Make penalties sweeping, harsh, and long-term. And maybe, just maybe, start taking women (and other victims) seriously, stop victim-blaming, stop victim-shaming, stop being afraid of making the effort to do the right thing. Stop being complacent.

There are places in Asia where women are second class citizens all the way. In India and Singapore a husband is still allowed by law to rape his wife as long as she's older than 13 years old. so I'd say it's pretty likely that Asia has some issues with equal pay too, lol. In Russia, women are forbidden from working in “hard, dangerous and/or unhealthy trades", which includes stuff like driving trains and firefighting, and in China women aren't allowed to work in mines or do any of the "hard" physical labour jobs. In Malta men are still allowed to abduct a woman, force her to marry him, and then be free from persecution. So yeah, from our view, the US and Canada aren't doing well with pay equity... but we're also doing a hell of a lot better with female equality than plenty of places in Europe and Asia.
