Brutal. No response by the team. While young, it's probably the softest Flyers team I've seen in a long time
Mrazek has to start Game 2...and that's saying a lot about the goaltending.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Not ready to play and shocker.....the goaltending is embarrassing.
    This will be a sweep.
the whole team was awful to start the game. the number of 1st period bad giveaways was brutal. they can't play any worse but the yes the goaltending is embarrassing once again. someday this franchise will have a great goalie. can't wait to hear hextall tell us for the next 5 years that Carter Hart isn't ready yet.

How sad is it that I kept tuning back to the game hoping for just one goal?

The Crosby goal after the McDonald wiff was unbelievable.  The skill to make that is insane. I still hate him.

    Alright, alright, alright!

I turned it off at the end of the first period and watched the sixers game instead.  Turnovers killed us.  Just hoping next game is better

Team Bi-polar back at it again.
Getting nothing from #28 and #93
    Unacceptable 3rd period. Zero energy.

Crosby dominating the series and G has done shit.  An MVP candidate has to do a hell of a lot more than G has done so far in this series.  Elliot sucks too. What a shit show of goalies this franchise has had since Hextall's early years.

Is Simmonds not fully recovered from his injury because he's giving nothing just like 28 & 93?  When our "stars" aren't even average, you can't beat this team. I love G but he has 2 points in his last 9 playoff games. Pens 4 on 3 lineup was Crosby, malkin, Kessel and Letang. Fuck that.

I'm glad Hextall didn't make any stupid trades to get rid of youth this year. Have a feeling some of our vets will be traded this offseason.

With all that said, go Flyers and fuck Crosby.

yup that's a pretty much unstoppable 4 on 3 there. Hate Crosby but man he is good.  Respect but hate for him. Pens are just a bad matchup for this team.
Agree on not trading youth. This teams upside is 3-4 years down the line.  The young kids have played well for the most part.  Really like Patrick.  Had some doubts early but clearly that was related to his injuries from last year.
  • Dr. DelightDr. Delight Posts: 11,210
Simmonds has to be injured, if hes not hes killing his future value.
Either way I think Hextall has to trade him, preferably for an NHL ready young player.
Simmonds is about to turn 30 and will be looking for a big pay increase. The time is now to move forward and get younger pieces.

They have so much trash in goal and Hart is still at least 2 years away, yet still an unknown. Hextall has to do something this summer to build a solid bridge in goal. Hopefully both Mrazek and Neuvirth will be gone next year..

Gudas is such a goon that he even takes out his own players.  That is frigging awful.
The love he receives is the love that is saved
  • Dr. DelightDr. Delight Posts: 11,210
I wont fault Gudas there but rather Hakstol  for setting up a dumb fn drill. You can see Gudas looking down to accept a puck from another player and he accidentally clips Couturier who is skating with another puck on a separate drill.

Lower the series odds even further if he's out.

    Embarrassing.  I've seen enough.
Something is wrong with this core/coaching staff. They played like they really weren't interested in being there.
And the goalies played their usual part. Dreadful shit .

Yikes. Overall, the team is still too slow. The game is changing and the Flyers are way behind the curve.

The coach is in over his head . Not a fan of Hackstol at all. The team plays like him, emotionless.
Todays practice had Sanheim sitting, replaced by Haag with Manning and Gudas STILL playing, and playing together.
Filpulla at 1st Line center. Just awful stuff.

Last nights game was the best game of the series.  Nice to see Giroux show up for the series.  Neuvirth looked ok (except the second goal that went in).  Still barely hanging in there.

well I shouldn't be too surprised about how they lost.  Hackstol should be gone.  At least we still have the sixers and phillies.

I don't think Hakstol is the problem. I think he is fine and actually did a good job during the season.  I'm tried of the aging average to below average veterans this franchise insists on dragging out every year. enough of turds like Lehtera, Filluppa, and Gudas.  The retread veteran goalies are annoying too.  Put youth and speed on the 4th line and 3rd defense pairing.

On the positive side what an incredible effort by Couturier. Torn MCL and played great the last two games. Unbelievable. Hockey players are nuts.
  • Dr. DelightDr. Delight Posts: 11,210
    Couple of quick points:
Flyers got nothing from Giroux Voracek, Ghost and Simmonds- I'll let Simmonds slide. I think we hear tomorrow or so of a significant injury.
Flyers had no chance with the goaltending they received. Pitt used 1 goalie. Flyers flung out 3 goalies who each gave up weak goals at bad times. Im tired of every summer asking the question, "who are they gonna try and get in goal for this season"
Couturier: Warrior. Stepped up in the last two games with a torn MCL and showed more heart than the Captain and V.
Provorov: Another Warrior. Best D-man o the team. Was playing with some kind of shoulder injury/tear. Was in tears after the game.
Gudas: I hope he never plays another game here. Neutered by Hackstol and the league, he's useless when he doesnt play on the edge. Bad all year long, took out his teammate in practice and then had an absolutely costly game today. Fire him into the sun.
Hextall has a lot of work to do this summer and money to spend.

I don't want to see any of those 3 goalies back here next year.  If they weren't going to make any dead line deals, which I was fine with, they should've just stuck with Lyon and see what he had. Gudas had money on the Pens last night.
    Alright, alright, alright!
