I really didn't think it would get up that high, but that's great! I was saying the other day, next time they should make it dinner and drinks, like a fun night out with Eddie rather than just a meet and greet. They could pull in so much money for charity.

Someone please help me justify a reason for not making this a raffle. The only thing I can think off is it’s a way to make sure only the buegiouse can win. A raffle would raise way more funds. This has really bothered me since the auction was announced to the point of not being able to enjoy a show.

You may be taking it way too seriously if it's impacting your ability to enjoy a show.... As to your question, it's a good one, but I doubt anyone here knows the answer, But this isn't just a PJ thing, so I doubt this decision was theirs.

Running a raffle is probably a lot more work than doing an on-line auction. You need to collect money from thousands of people instead of just one. There are also probably credit card transaction fees on each entry which will reduce the total amount collected.
I am not saying that I prefer the auction over the raffle but the raffle may be easier to organize.
I thought about that then I remembered they pretty much conduct a raffle every month with the 10 club giveaways and that it shouldn’t be that much harder to do a full on raffle considering how much more money it would raise. I really want to believe there is a good reason for the auction but like I said I can’t come up with one and I’ve put a good bit of thought into it.

I wish I would have deleted my Facebook account sooner (not related, I just believe Facebook is destroying society) that way I could have been blissfully ignorant that they were doing an auction. It’s not really that I’m taking it too seriously, it’s that it may conflict with my morals. I’m afraid this will turn into a Metallica situation where I can’t listen to the music without feeling wrong.

3 hours left and close to the $50k mark. Good for them.
Hot Stove Cool Music auctions have raised $25k for an EV-only signed guitar, so once you take that money from the highest bid 4 people will get a Wrigley ticket and meet Eddie for about $8k each. Still relatively reasonable for the price it's going for (assuming we all had that money to burn).
I'm choosing to appreciate that Ed and co use their celebrity in positive ways, such as raising these funds. Over $56K raised in a single shot, I think that's great! Running a raffle would be way more overhead, (10c raffle is not apples to apples, as that's from an already paid, existing pool of people). I don't believe everyone should get a chance to win everything via raffle. There are fans that probably can't spare $10 for a raffle ticket, so there's that. Be proud that PJ/Ed cares enough about the cause to help.
Maybe the winner is a PJ fan. Maybe not. If there were no auction, would some of you still be mad that there wasn't a meet and greet raffle? I don't believe the band, or Ed, needs to include 10c on everything. I'm happy for the amount of appreciation they show fans already.
Perhaps I'm sensitive right now because our 9 yo and 13 yo boys are going through a "that's not fair" stage, and it's annoying as hell. Just because Billy's parents let him play unlimited Fortnite doesn't mean squat, son.
Shouldn't we all be butt-hurt that we're paying higher prices for the stadium tour for the homelessness cause? Cuz, you know, that's not fair to feed and clothe the bums on our backs! They should raffle extra stuff for that instead of raising ticket prices, not my fault the homeless didn't hit their lottery. If they raffled 10 meet and greets with every band member, every show, they could probably reduce ticket prices. 10c only, of course. (btw, this last graph is total sarcasm)
It's amazing what you hear when you take time to listen.
