    Aug. 8 & 10 - Safeco (Seattle)
    Aug. 17 & 19 - Wrigley (Chicago)
    Aug. 31 & Sept. 2 - Fenway (Boston)
    Sept. 7 & 9 - Citizens Bank (Philadelphia)

Assuming that these might be the only shows we get in the US for this year, any ideas as to which city would be the easiest to get tickets for via 10C lottery?  Which city might be the toughest?  I'm assuming Seattle would be the toughest due to the hometown factor and lack of shows lately.  Thoughts/ideas?
Do we know these are the correct dates?
Nope.  Just the cities and dates with strongest rumors so far.
I haven't been in here in a long time, and I'm hoping it's not JUST a four city ball park tour this year. :(

Also, great shows can happen with calm crowds.  Bad shows can happen with great crowds.

14' was the best run they had in awhile. Nothing against the 16 tour but this is where they picked up a lot of fans that maybe didn't know they were still kicking ass. In the Omaha/Lincoln Metro area saying that was the best concert that has been in NE for the past 10 years.

Not to mention that it's relative to where you are in the venue as well.  If you're surrounded by shitty people, it might suck but the person 10 feet away from you might think it's the greatest crowd ever.

U.S. crowds for big bands are full of corporate guests and stuff that are in primo locations but couldn't care less about the music.  At Wrigley II 2016 I was on the rail behind the little VIP section on Stone's side.  It was full of guests and friends (including some we all know) and they werent even facing the stage most of the time, either talking or looking at their phones.  I didn't see as much of that in Amsterdam and Italy in 2014.

It's what it is...big business.  I've been trying to go to more small shows/newer bands and it's usually a way better experience.

MSG had the same corporate douchebags next to the GA pits in their suits and ties...playing on there phones the entire time. Eddie and Mike both had to notice too. it was depressing.

I'll never understand the "OMG HOMETOWN SHOW!" people. Have you not been to, or seen the setlists for the couple concerts here the last 20 years? They don't like playing here, it's why they never do and why the setlists are always average at best.
The last couple times Eddie has come out and said how the crowd just stands around and doesn' give them any energy. That's why they love to play places like Philly, NYC, boston, Chicago. HIGH energy crowds. The band really feeds off of it.
I haven’t been to a show in Seattle, but why are the places u mentioned more high energy than most other cities? I’ve seen them in Boston and Chicago multiple times and I didn’t personally notice anything different from all the other shows I’ve been to around the country. Just my opinion though.
I've heard we in the States all pale in comparison to the South American crowds.
Yeah I can definitely see that. I’ve seen some impressive videos of those SA shows. Looks epic.

Hartford overrated....My theory is that the shows in the South are tighter, more focused and better quality because the band feels they still have something to prove in the South and can't get bye on just crowd enthusiasm.
  • CantKeepmedownCantKeepmedown Portland, Maine Posts: 2,894
Do you think the band has a choice in where they are playing? Not necessarily where, but as far as stadiums vs arenas/sheds?  I assume they never dreamed of being a stadium act and playing to that many people in such a big venue is kind of numbing.  I guess if it's put to them, "you can play 25 shows, be on the road for a couple months and make X amount of $$........or.........you can play 10 shows, be on the road for a few weeks, and make even more X amount of $$" they are going to take the latter.

I wonder how much say they have overall.
  • given2fly23given2fly23 Evanston, IL Posts: 5,876
I think they have the pull to do what they want, but they need a promoter to agree.  I believe the band gets a fixed fee for the show plus merch and percentage of vending.  So I think the promoter might say play 3 nights at United Center, tickets will be $50-$100 each and you will get $$$/night or play one night at Soldier Field, tickets will be $50-$200 each and you will get $$$.

While the band has a lot of pull because they have a loyal, rabid fanbase, I think people forget how many moving pieces there are.

Agreed.  Way less shows for me...23, but Hartford 06 was the weakest.  The damp May weather was a big factor though.
