    If they do good work and he was able to get the deal required I don't think that doing business with someone you know is in and of itself a bad thing

    I would further assume that the normal players would not only refuse the terms but chagre much more than a business executive using this as an opportunity to try and grow their company


    (This is shared as a businessman who has worked surround hundreds of large subcontractor scenarios and has seen firsthand the tyoe of rip off that can often be perpetrated by big companies with "huge experience".)

    Not saying it may not end up to be a bad deal but it might end up being a much better deal

    I also am skeptical of ALL people holding these types of positions as making insider deals as often as they can, not just the Gump appointees.

    A former senior official at the Energy Department and state regulatory 
agencies said it was "odd" that Whitefish Energy would be chosen.

    Still without power....on 60 mins they just said that it would be January/February before most have it back and the remote people could take until Summer.  
    So messed up.

    They did say that running water was accessible to 80% of the island?  That's good to hear.

    San Juan, Puerto Rico (CNN)The head of Puerto Rico's embattled power authority stepped down Friday, nearly two months after Hurricane Maria left much of the island without electricity. 

    Ricardo Ramos, executive director of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), submitted his resignation to the bankrupt utility's board and it is effective Friday, according to PREPA. 
    The resignation comes days after Puerto Rico's governor celebrated that power generation reached 50 percent capacity only to see an outage leave parts of San Juan without power for hours.
    PREPA also faced widespread criticism for signing a $300 million contract to restore power with Whitefish Energy, a small Montana-based firm that only employed two people at the time of the contract.
      The state-owned utility company agreed to cancel the deal shortly afterward amid public outcry.
      "I chose to contract with Whitefish because my priority was securing the immediate assistance that we needed to begin restoring power as quickly as possible to our most critical customers," Ramos said in prepared testimony at a Senate hearing this week.

      In the spirit of Puerto Rico’s indigenous Taino people, Operation Taino Spirit Promise, will deliver supplies to local Puerto Rican NGOs committed to rebuilding Puerto Rico sustainably focusing on the areas of environment, eco-agriculture and children’s mental health and education."

      Sounds like they are getting things in order.  Probably about what can be expected after those storms.  I am assuming they rely on diesel generators for their power?
