I am actually not much of a fan of this book (read it two or three times over many years), but I'll certainly be interested to see what Netflix did for the story.

^^^ That story I do enjoy. This looks really good. I think it's pretty awesome that Netflix appears to be getting on the SK bandwagon here. I wonder what other stories they'll do?? There are SO many to choose from!

Someone made a weird comment to me about SK on the weekend... He said that his friend claims that SK always has to insert sex into all his book. I was surprised to hear this statement. I mean, yeah, there is some sex in his stories because sex happens, but this person made it sounds like it was gratuitous. I definitely have never thought that. Also, he said this girl said there is some weird child sex scene in "It" (the book), and not including the molestation of Bev. Is there a descriptive segment with little kids having sex in the book?? I don't remember that part. I'm wondering if this friend of this guy's isn't just a major prude or something.

Is it particularly inappropriate or something?? The chick apparently viewed this as a real negative, like a reason not to like SK.

I'm reading it again for the 1st time in 30 years. I haven't reached that part yet but I'm pretty sure all the kids have sex with her.

Yeah, I looked it up. Now that I have, I do remember it. However, I disagree that it's particularly inappropriate/scandalous. It fits into the context of the book and the moment and isn't portrayed pornographically or anything.

I've read close to 20 SK novels and sex is a minor or nonexistent part of most of them.
Dean Koontz shoehorns pornographic sex scenes into all his novels and I'm sure half the bestsellers do as well.

I think your friend is a prude or is just using that as a justification for not liking SK to be contrary.

Yeah, I've read most of his books and I have never once felt like he wrote about sex "too much". But just for the record, my friend didn't say it and he's never read a single SK book. His friend said it - I don't even know her. ;)

Ι don't think it was so bad the sex scene..for me, it was just a metaphor, about the transpotation from teenager to adult...

Even with very low expectations the Dark Tower movie was disappointing.
I expected the plot to be a shamble, but I expected better performances than were delivered.
Walter is supposed to be garulous, not stoic.

No mention of Ka, none of the often repeated phrases except the Gunslingers creed...
    Not great.

I hate Hulu originals, because Hulu isn't available in Canada. It's bullshit. Yes, I could stream it for free or work it out using a VPN, but I actually want the legit service.

IT, IT, IT, I was living at home, downstairs bedroom, 25 pages in I was back upstairs in my old bedroom.  Scared the hell out of me.  The Stand is another favorite.  Books are always better than movies, IMO.

Agreed. Yes, books are usually better than the movie but not always. There are a few Stephen King stories where the movie was better. In my opinion, those are:
    Stand By Me
    Shawshank Redemption
    The Green Mile
    1408
    Carrie
IT (2017) - I know most will disagree with me on this one, especially since we've only seen half the story... but I think the new IT was absolutely fantastic, and expect no less from part 2. I realize it's a fan favorite book, but I always felt that while it is good, it drags a bit, and I always hated the dumb spider and turtle - I thought it ruined the whole story a bit - so I appreciated that those were removed from the movie.

You guys are right, I never read Shawshank but I LOVE the movie.  But my personal experience with any book made into movie production, what's left out and what's added, usually disappoints.
